Cadillac outsells BMW in the luxury segment?

The truth is, many of our new cars and trucks are doing exceptionally well, and have met with acclaim. My recent post about HHR is but one example. But it goes beyond HHR and Solstice. The Buick Lucerne is off to a good start, generating buzz on network television and earning “Best New Car” in the $30,000 to $45,000 category from Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine.

The Chevy Impala continues to be a strong performer — our top-selling car for 2005 so far. Especially encouraging is the strong demand for Impala SS, with its 303-hp small-block V8, Displacement-on-Demand and 28 miles per highway gallon. The Cadillac DTS was the best-selling vehicle in the prestige luxury segment in October, outpacing the second-place BMW 5-Series by 17 percent. How many of you knew that?

That's great news for gm/cadillac, that entire brand line up is doing great. I am surprised that bmw is #2 with such ugly cars the entire bmw line up looks weird, to much bangle and even the redesigned 7 is still ugly,it looks worse.

This would be in the US, right? I seriously doubt that Cadillac is outselling BMW in the rest of the world. I am surprised it is not Lexsux (heheheh) :)

DTS?? That ancient tuna boat/geezermobile in new sheet metal? GM is really scraping bottom to brag about that relic. Not at all representative of the best Cadillac has to offer. The STS is a fine car deserving of a lot more recognition

I agree, GM is doing a great job in the car department especialy the Cady's. But they still have a long way to go on there trucks. One of the most simplist things they could do is take one of there trucks that are great, the Trailblazer, and make it "Trail Rated" I would bet this would be a good seller. Yes I am sure it would not be a Jeep but it would be a great step forward. Besides the hummer line GM does not really have trail rated trucks.

Who cares that GM sold more DTS's than BMW sold 5's? Last I checked, BMW isn't going for the mass-production that GM cares about. Porsche has been the most profitable car company for quite some time, and they don't mass produce. GM doesn't have anybody scared right now except their own employees
