BMW 530d GT on display at Munich Airport
The new BMW 5 Series GT is out in the open and slowly we have moved award from the multitude of spy photos that we have seen in the past few months. BMW is focusing these days on promoting the new vehicle at various public and private events that take place across the world.

And what’s better to market a new vehicle other than displaying it in one of the busiest and largest airports in Europe: Munich “Franz Josef Strauss” Airport. With an estimated passenger traffic at 34.73 million in 2008, the 530d GT should receive plenty of attraction while being displayed there.

What an abomination. If this car,van or hearse (insert your choice here) were a dude, it would never get laid, much like its uncle the Panamera.

if it were a girl, it would have a "good personality"!

The first thing that comes to mind is when Brad Pitt splices in a dong scene from a porno in "Fight Club". And everyone in the theater is shocked, and kids begin to cry. I can see one getting the same reaction if they used this in place of porno.

I like aspects of the car, the metallic grey color is nice and shows off the creases and surface design lines. Cant wait too see a regular 5 series in that grey-blue metallic with sport package and TT V-8

not bad...
Frankly, it's not that bad at all.

This car is as pointless as the R-Class for Mercedes. BMW already has the X6, why even bother with this model?.

Again..ugly....Audi A5 and A7 sportback will look 100% better than this pig shaped car. However there is somthing special in this car: Interior looks second to none.

Surprisingly, it's starting to grow on me. The only thing I can't get over is the rear light design. They could have done a much better job.

Man, I thought the X6 was the ugliest incarnation of a automobile... this thing will test the intestinal fortitude of even the most die-hard BMW badgewhore

I saw an X6 today in white on 5 freeway in San Juan Capistrano, Ca and it made a 300C next to it look like the size of a Corolla.

It's a big bad SAV.

What's an SAV?

In pieces, the car is alright. The front isn't all that bad. Basically just sink that roof in to make a decent-looking regular 5-Series sedan.

I saw the 530gt on the Autobahn yesterday and it didn't look that great. It's seriously gonna take some time for it to grow on me.
Time will tell.

Search for spiny dogfish shark under Yahoo images. That's a face only a mother could love. LOL

Here is what I wonder...what the hell is it supposed to be? I mean if they are trying to make a hatchback 5 Series, well could have been shaped better. I don't think it is all that hideous, but it is not attractive either. Then there are 4 seats in most models I have seen. Originally I remember them saying this car was supposed to be the roomier Bimmer people mover, then when it came out I saw 4 seats and I was like what is this thing? Time will tell, however I got a feeling...that the next version may not make it to the showroom...

BMW has lost its soul.

What is next? A BMW cargo van with a coupe roofline? How about a 7-Series mini-van? I know, how about a X7 dually 4x4 pickup to compete with the Hummer H2 SUT?

And if they still have time and money, some new driving machines could be scheduled in........only if there is time for a few extras.

No, but I bet BMW will come out with a 7-Series Truck to compete with the big Cadillac, Ford and Toyota trucks or maybe they'll come out with a 7-Series Tractor to compete against the John Deere line but what they do I'm sure it can't be any worse or uglier than this new 5 Series GT.

My bet is that buyers will love it (despite what everyone here thinks). Higher seating position like an SUV and larger/easier stowage will be a big hit with the older female-no kids left at home-but I have two dogs-country club demographic.

However, GT-5 sales will come at the expense of either the standard 5-series or the X5, so I'm not sure what BMW will gain (net)?

Now that I've seen all kinds of pictures of this car from all different angles, colors... its just looks worse and worse each time. The front and interior is nice but the side and back view is "SIMPLY HIDEOUS"

This is BMW's version of the Pontiac Aztec and the newest addition to the ugliest cars ever designed. BMW should offer the people who buy it a car cover that only covers up the back half of it then maybe the car would look bearable plus the unlucky people driving behind it won't have to be subjected to it's total ugliness.
