GM planning to sell the Chevrolet Volt on eBay
Expect bidding for the Chevrolet Volt petrol-electric hybrids to begin soon on eBay. A trial of the scheme will be conducted in California before it goes national.

Since the Chevrolet Volt is built at a loss due to its complex and expensive technology, offering it at eBay would allow GM to sell it a higher price, as demand is anticipated to exceed the supply. Talks are still ongoing between GM and eBay and it’s reported that there are a few more details to work on. Chevrolet brand manager Ed Peper said that an official launch of the scheme is expected in the coming weeks.

this better be a joke.

can you take a failing car maker seriously if they are selling their newest, most "forward thinking" automobile on the same website i sold my dirty frat house futon?

hehe... it looks like an iPod in the interior. Cool but it looks vulnerable to fingerprints just like the iPods.
And now, they're gonna sell it like an iPod! - used one, or rather

No...this is Brilliant!

Most of us on this site have been complaining about having to buy cars through Stealerships for far to long...we have been begging to buy directly from the source. Well here is the Beta test of that option.

Even though they might be testing this out with the wrong car (still to be seen) getting the whole concept of buying directly from the dealer to actully work will be the big genius of this...not the Volt itself.

Kudos GM!

I think the negotiations will involve a reduction in the fees. But its a great idea! Next, list a few million unsold SUVs and Silverados....
