BMW Museum Received 13 Awards

BMW Museum Received 13 Awards
The BMW Museum, reopened in 2008, sets benchmarks with its innovative and fascinating exhibition design, just as it did when it first opened in 1973. Since its reopening, the BMW Museum has raked in 13 internationally prestigious prizes.

Playing a pivotal role in these awards is the Kinetic Sculpture in the entrance area of the Museum. It represents the form-finding process in the car manufacturing ösector. 714 computer-controlled metal balls suspended from fine steel strings display a range of shapes through their movements before the actual BMW design materialises.

Besides this sculpture, the outstanding design concept of the Museum’s so-called “Mediatecture” is attracting further prizes. The facades of the “Houses” in the new low-rise building are made up of LED surfaces which showcase the exhibits.

The sections of the facades surrounding the central plaza in the Museum are made up of more than 700m2 of LED panels, comprising a total of 1.765 million light-emitting diodes that allow the surfaces to be actively illuminated and choreographed. But it isn’t only the national and international media who are lauding the BMW Museum: its day-to-day visitors are just as impressed. Since the 2008 reopening, more than 400,000 visitors have come here to learn about the history of BMW.

Awesome museum indeed, especially if you judge it by the cover.
These pictures really don't show how coolness never ends at this museum from the moment you see it to when you entire it.
Sadly, there isn't a single picture of the Isetta, a main contributor to the Bimmer's existence today.

Anyways, I really have to give it up for BMW and its heritage. I admit that Lexus, despite having a good start (which includes the present), really doesn't have the history to compete.

Great museum. I've gone twice now. Only disappointments were: 1)No McLaren F1. I know that it's not a BMW, but it's BMW-powered, and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 95 first time out, and 2)No BMW V12 LMR which won 24 Hours of Le Mans in 99, and 3)No BMW M3 GTR which campaigned in and won the ALMS in 01.

I swear BMW has a sister company with fake panel of judges that does nothing but "fabricate" awards and media hype in the press.

I've been to the new BMW Museum four times now (I live in Munich) and honestly, it's good, but not that impressive. There are so many cars that are not showcased that deserve to be in there. In particular their racing section is pitiful with only four cars. There are clearly more BMWs that have made history that belong inside this place and they're not showcased.

During my last visit I finally saw some new exhibitions in the roadster section but that was it. In my opinion their racing section needs more cars.
