Magna International to move into part of Chrysler’s former headquarters
Magna International is taking over the abandoned facility, which previously served as Chrysler’s headquarters, located in Highland Park, Michigan. The Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) is set to approve tax incentives today that will clear the way for Magna to take over the facility, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Magna International, a Canadian auto supplier, will be producing automotive seating parts for both Chrysler and General Motors. Chrysler occupied the site from 1925 until 1992 when it moved to Auburn Hills. Wayne County executive Robert Ficano said that Magna founder and chairman Frank Stronach has been trying to locate a manufacturing or research facility in the US since 2004.

For anyone who doesn't know who Magna are, they build more than seats. They built a lot of cars for Chrysler, and considered buying the company after it was dumped by MB. They didn't for sound business reasons, not for a shortage of cash. Financially, Magna is probably on par with Ford, but way ahead of GM and Chrysler and could end up being the other half of the future "big 2" in Detroit.

They are in negotiation with GM and the German administration, but there is no final decision yet. They are the favorite of parts of the administration and the unions.

DieselRules:
You are right. They did build the PT Cruiser, The MB CLK and the BMW X3.
