New Infiniti M Coming On August 14th- Do They Have To Go For Broke With A RADICAL Design Change?
Infiniti just announced they will do something a little different when they debut the next 'M' at Pebble Beach on August 14th.

Rather than having the real car on display, they have created a virtual 3/D display of the car (holographic?) that will resemble the real car from afar.

Sounds cool and different for a change.

This is a pivotal time for Infiniti and our opinion this new 'M' needs to be a grand slam homerun for them because they desperately need a second high volume selling car line outside of the G.

Hell, come to think of it, who DOESN'T need another high volume selling car line these days?

So as I think of what this next 'M' should look like, I thought it would be great to let Infiniti know what YOU expect of this next generation car.

Should it be an evolutionary design with an Essence style face and tailights or should they go for broke and make it look like a 4-door GTR or even more extreme?

Here's your chance to let Infiniti get the opinion of the most astute car audience on the planet.

Face it, it AutoSpies.com readers love it, it will be a hit.

If they don't, well, you don't wanna go there.

Doesn't really matter what the other websites or mags say, THIS is most influencial premium car audience in the world.

So tell us what they need to do, to win the game in this segment and make another hit.

The GT-R is too boy-racer for the segment. They need to incorporate design elements from the Essence to create a sophisticated, yet unique image if they hope to compete with the German offerings. With that and a lower price tag they could sway a lot of buyers

They can sway all they want but they will never beat Lexus. Lexus is the epitome of luxury cars. Every luxury shopper looks at Lexus. Mercedes, Audi, BMWs and Jags are over rated. Hollywood's elite choose them because they're brain washed thinking its actually good quality but Mercedes uses fake wood just like Hyundai does. Lexus uses real bark from the forests not some cheap factory made plastic. Also Lexus has the luxury to compete with Maybachs, Bentleys, Aston martins and Rolls Royce. No car company is in its league to say the least. Infiniti M is just another rebadged Nissan Fuga so whats so special? No Lexus is rebadged. They just want you to think that so you find value.

BMWonder - you're joking right? "Also BMW has the luxury to compete with Maybachs, Bentleys, Aston martins and Rolls Royce. No car company is in its league to say the least." that was the stupidest, absolute stupidest thing i've ever heard.

Have you seen GT-R in close distance? It feels like an NFL player, definitely not a teen gal like new Z4 or Cayman.....

Take cues from both cars. Have the Essence front end with the GTR side profile and rear. Interior needs to be quality but most important, this car needs to be priced below the competition with more standard equipment..........or else history will repeat itself.

I think Infiniti should go for BMW 5 series approach and not Lexus GS. A different unique design not necessarily very beautiful. It should look sporty and expensive/premium at same time.

Whatever it looks like hopefully they reduce the tons of excessive chrome that is on the current one, it looks rediculous its all over the place

And reduce the size of the taillights as well, they are enormous
on the current version.

Noo, the new M will have its own new design not based on the GT-R 4 doors. Even though Infiniti should definitely think of having a 4 door GT-R to compete with Porsche, Lambo, etc...

I'd like Infiniti to do an LED version of the "gatling gun" headlights of the last Q.

I'd also like to see Infiniti use this opportunity to step away from Bose and partner with another audio firm. Nothing against Bose, but it is yet another way that Infiniti lacks something to make them stand apart.

"I'd like Infiniti to do an LED version of the "gatling gun" headlights of the last Q." Yeah this was the best part of the Q. This would rival BMW and Audi lights.

Think it would be good to incorporate some cues of the Essence and GT-R into the new M sedan, think that would look pretty hot. I am sure they will do a good job, can't wait to see it.

I don't know what Infiniti can do. The "M" was a darling of the automotive press, beating; Audi, BMW, Lexus, Mecedes in comparison tests. While it easily bested the dismal sells of the previous (disastrous) "M" it still hasn't been a sales success. I don't how much better this car has to be and how much less it has to cost than the competition to be a sales winner.

Since they don't really have a real flag ship IMO I believe that they should make a car that's in between the 5 and seven series in size. Keep the price at the 5 range and luxury and tech in the seven range. They would want to leave space for the true luxury ride when they decide to make it. I agree with the LED Gatling gun headlights and slightly smaller taillights. Dont make the engines to big and thirsty also if you could have it on it own platform and make it very light weight to boost performance. Take the 3.5 V6 and use direct injection (not the 3.7)and the VVT that they use on the 3.7 along with twin turbos and EH process (cheap power). This would be good for about 350 ponies and 350lbs of torque. As the performance model have a 4.0 V8 direct injection with VVT tech and maybe the EH process (cheap power)and twin turbos for torque. This should be good for 450ponies and torque as well. Keep the quality up there (which it is) and the price competitive and it will attract a following that it may be missing. But the looks come first. No crazy roof line at the C pillar, give it the space that was needed in head and leg room front and rear.

The M shouldn't be a 4 door GTR That's not the market it is targeting. But Infiniti should produce a 4 door GTR and make it it's own segment.
