Edmunds Insideline Drives Audi's A5 Sportback

The guys over at Edmunds Insideline have just driven the all-new Audi A5 Sportback.

Their first impression is that, "For all practical purposes, this is the kind of car almost everyone should buy."

This conclusion is understandable for many reasons. Among them include the car's ability to combine the A5 coupe's drop-dead gorgeous looks, with the A4 sedan's larger head and leg room, and the A4 avant's huge trunk space.

The 40/60 front-rear biased Quattro AWD systemn gives the A5 Sportback very good handlingl In fact, the reviews say that the handling is excellent for an "A"-badged Audi. The interior, with its unique two-tone color scheme, highlights Audi's reputation as a leader when it comes to interior design.

The only question that remains is: Will the Audi A5 Sportback be offered in the United States?

i wouldn't mind one as well. i love hatchbacks (on certain cars) and this reminds me (don't ask why) of one of my favorite mazdas, the 1988 mazda 626 turbo. although they look nothing alike, they both are cars that i fell in love with at first sight.

1dott8, I think you and I are the few people in the US that like hatchback sedans. Personally, I think the design is so practical while looking good at the same time. As for recent hatchback designs, I agree that the Audi A5 is so much better looking than the BMW 5GT. There's something about the BMW's tall rear that throws the design off kilter.
