Driven: The 2010 Infiniti G37 Convertible

Driven: The 2010 Infiniti G37 Convertible
Transforming an exceptional coupe into a convertible takes more than a little cosmetic surgery and a plasma cutter. Too often, topless versions suffer from Twizzler-like body strength — which compromises handling, ride and safety — and questionable styling. For example, the car looks as if the automaker just dropped a convertible top onto a coupe without any thought to incorporate it into the vehicle's overall design. The result is an awkward drop-top.

The new 2010 Infiniti G37 convertible suffers from none of these ills. In fact, Infiniti worked tirelessly to make it appear as though no modifications have been made whatsoever to the G37. The only way you'd know this is a convertible is when the top opens. The result is arguably the best hardtop drop-top since the Mercedes SL, and Infiniti didn't have to ditch any of the dynamics that make the G37 a top performer.

Wow that is a pretty bold statement for the car. It's better than a BMW 3 series convertible? Better than the Lexus IS convertible?

Looks pretty good for a convertible. I am more of a coupe guys, but if I was forced to get a convertible, I would opt for the G37 over the 3 series or IS.

Right, like you've never seen a blonde bimbo using daddy's money driving a 3 series or Audi convertible...

Perfect execution by Infiniti, looks amazing with the top up or down, they'll sell tons of these.

Problems with G37 cabrio:
They had to shorten the rear suspension links to add the top compromising handling

They did not design the top in house so it is not as good as the Lexus Is Top that was designed in house and works faster, more seamlessly.

It also has a big ass like Jay Lo after some drinking with P-Diddy!

pennfootball,

have you driven the G or even seen it in person? ok, they used a company who specializes in hard tops so they would have one that works and lasts, how is lexus making their own better? also the rear end is not big or bulky it looks great in fact. not to mention the back seat is actually functional. I'm 5'10" and can sit in the back fine with a 6'2" person in the front. Add to this that the Infiniti handles better than the lexus is faster than the lexus costs less than the lexus.. I think its another grandslam!!!

I believe it.The new G37 is an amazing car for the money. Id take this over the 3 series drop top. People will argue about anything ,honestly who the hell cares which car has a faster retractable roof. They're all within a few seconds of eachother. Next, lets argue about which motor warms up the fastest on a cold start.Come on.
