Ford Formally Pushes the Mustang Into NASCAR :

The Mustang will be taking part in the NASCAR Nationwide Series–sort of. Actually, Ford has just rebodied the existing car to make it resemble the ‘Stang–everything else is the same. We’re not convinced this’ll save NASCAR’s sliding viewership and audience attendance. We’ll still take the Rolex and SCCA over this any day of the week.

NASCAR has become a cartoon of its former self. Until we get back to the days where the cars actually share some sheetmetal with their namesakes, it will be nothing more than a TV show for boobs.

WHy not make it the Ford Focus? All you have to do is make a sticker kit like the one placed on this one to look like a mustang

This is just plain stupid.

Sadly there is nothing "stock" about a stock car anymore, the whole idea of race on a Sunday and then have the ability to buy the same car on Monday has vanished. I am starting my own race series called street legal racing series to ramp up the safety and performance of cars. I am sorry but if a racecar driver gets a 6 point harness and a roll cage why can't I? Driving should be a privilege not a right of some 55 year old soccer mom in a mini van who has no clue how to drive a stick!

I am happy to see NASCAR and the manufacturers trying to improve the connection between the race cars and street cars. Its definitely a step in the right direction.

If this move proves popular (and I'm sure it will), then I am hoping that we see the truck series canceled for a street-car based entry level racing series.
