Mazda presents new MX-5 Roadster 20th Anniversary Edition
Mazda’s 20th anniversary special-edition MX-5 Roadster just went on sale in Japan. Obviously, the model will have extra features over the standard MX-5. The new model is available on either the RS, with a manually operated soft-top and six-speed manual gearbox; or the VS RHT, which features a folding hardtop roof and six-speed automatic gearbox.

Extra kit includes Recaro bucket sport seats in black and red Alcantara leather, ‘20th Anniversary’ badges on each side, clear front fog lights and 17-inch aluminum wheels with 205/45R17 tires. Heated seats and a soft-touch interior also feature, as does a glass rear window on the soft-top model. The soft-top starts at 2.86 million Japanese yen , and the folding hardtop starts at 3.11 million yen.

will Mazda ever put the rotary into the Miata? This car needs more motor and a coupe option.

Why would anyone wants a rotary? It's highly inefficient, and has absolutely non-existence low-end torque.

Honestly, I don't see a point of having a 20th Anniversary edition without any horsepower or torque improvements. Mazda really need to add a super-charger or turbocharge this baby.

The rotary is a fun engine to have, it might not have low end torque but when you gear it to suit the higher rpm's it makes up for the lack in torque. At the end of the day you are left with a package that has a nice number of ponies per pound of engine. Sure it isn't fuel efficient, but we will see what all their dual stage direct injection research will do to it's economy.
