Lexus-The year in review

2006 is already shaping up to be a stellar year. In the upcoming months, Lexus will launch a new, groundbreaking hybrid sedan, the
GS 450h. This innovative vehicle will unquestionably revolutionize automotive history. In addition, Lexus Pursuit subscribers will continue to receive exclusive vehicle information and insider details on everything Lexus.

Targeted for a spring launch, the GS 450h will be the world's first hybrid luxury sedan and the first hybrid with a front engine and rear-wheel drive. Equally impressive is the combined power output, well in excess of 300 horsepower [1], and its zero to 60 acceleration in less than six seconds [1][2]. This hybrid will be equally appreciated by drivers, and the environment.

In 2005, Lexus kept journalists on their toes with the introduction of several new vehicles, as well as Lexus-sponsored sporting events and charity functions.

The new GS was unveiled in March to the pleasure of Lexus aficionados everywhere. The GS was the first vehicle to utilize the L-Finesse styling philosophy, incorporating intriguing elegance, emotional appeal, leading-edge performance and technology.

This past April, Lexus was proud to introduce the RX 400h, the world's first luxury hybrid vehicle. For the first time, discriminating drivers were able to find a luxury hybrid without having to compromise performance, luxury or cargo space.

October brought the unveiling of the all-new
Lexus IS. This introduction was as bold as the vehicle itself with an IS photomosaic display on the Reuters digital billboard in Times Square. The image of the vehicle was comprised of thousands of scaled-down photos submitted by people from all over the country.

In a unique partnership, Lexus created a special-edition GS hybrid sold exclusively through the legendary Neiman Marcus® Christmas Book. Only 75 Lexus GS 450h Neiman Marcus editions will be produced. The first sedan will be donated to the "Driven to Find a Cure" gala event benefiting cancer research. Other special-edition vehicles included a partnership with the
Pebble Beach Resorts® to produce the Lexus SC Pebble Beach® Edition in an exclusive Tigereye Mica exterior. Also introduced in limited supply were the Lexus ES Black Diamond Edition and the RX Thundercloud Edition.

Germany Is Targeting Lexus.

The new 3 series is a perfect examply of BMW designers listening to turning japanese over and over again.

America is responing to the new GS, and the New IS much better than the new 7,5, and 3. I have yet to hear a GS/IS owner say that they hate the new GS/IS (except my wife who doenst want a another car payment). I heard many 7,5 owners bash the replacements for their cars.

Lexus... will never be Mercedes. It will always be Japanese car with “want to be luxury” attitude, but with bad smell.

Hybrids have always exaggerated their mileage. Toyota has been given notice and now it chooses not to advertize actual mileage numbers on TV. I've noticed several commercials where they just mention leading mileage rather than giving the actual number.

I'd much rather drive a new diesel which gives me the actual advertised mileage without having to pay premium for a hybrid system or dealing with the extra complexity and added weight of additional components in my car.
