Nasty rumor flying around about BMW free maintenance program

One of the key differentiators of buying a BMW lately is that free scheduled maintenance is included with the purchase for four years or 50,000 miles.

Now, there is a rumor floating around that BMW is going to discontinue the program just like Mercedes-Benz did.

Has anyone else heard this rumor and can it be substantiated?

offers a huge incentive to leasing new vehicles. I think that companies are going in the wrong direction on this decision. Money can be made by providing future service at the dealer by building good customer relations during the service period. Lets think long term here.
