Prius Or MINI Cooper? What Would YOU Recommend To A Friend?
In today's economy, everyone is trying to save a buck as well as be more environmentally conscious.

So let's paint a hypothetical picture for you.

Your neighbor comes over because he knows you're the car person and asks for your advice.

Plus, you usually have better beer in your fridge than them.

And they ask you what vehicle to buy.

The 2010 Prius with the stealth new looks and 50MPG, or the MINI Cooper individualized.

What would you recommend to them and why?

ME! lol jk

I would ask the person about his boss's personality because nothing makes people jump to conclusion more than a little, iconic, and not necessarily inexpensive car.

First i would laugh at him, than ask him if he started drinking without me because only a drunken fool would ask something like that. Real talk though, both cars are in my eyes totally different, but id take the Cooper.

As truly nice as the Mini is, the truth is that one would be hard-pressed to actually achieve a consistent 30 MPG in real-world usage, and it's pretty small to ever be considered practical for most American drivers. With the aforementioned taken into consideration, the Prius would be my recommendation for most people I know. Additionally: I have to ask why you found it necessary to post pics of a last generation Prius, and a very old (pre-BMW) Mini, when neither of those vehicles has anything to do with this topic?

Could find a 2010 Prius and a new Cooper shot together so I had to make due.

You guys get it.

My wife had an 07 MINI S.......averaged 31 MPG with city/highway driving, and I drove the car often and flogged it, so it's rather easy to get above 30mpg. If you drive conservative it should be a given.

I dont believe that average. Our S averaged about 22 over the 3 years.

Would you rather have a BMW 5 series or a Toyota Avalon?

Depends on what that friend really wanted or needed. They are very different vehicles and I don't think they're cross shopped that often.

just like many other car enthusiast, i would recommend the cooper without a question. i respect the attempt at better gas milage of these hybrids but bottom line is it's not for real drivers and enthusiasts.

I htink you have to be a damn brit to like the styling of the Mini, lol. It looks so gay to me, lol. I would recommend the prius but would much rather recommend anything else.

similar to VW. They are feminine cars and are largely appealing to the gay population for whatever reason.

Invisible, if you read carefully, he's saying that Brits are gay.

Hmm, I think I'd have to go with the Prius to offset my current 9mpg guzzler.

Wow!! Mini Cooper Clubman hands down!! Two great cars at different ends of the spectrum really.

My cash for clunker car would definitely get traded for the Mini though!

Between those two, guess I would have to go with the Mini.

I would recommend a tricycle, big wheel or moped but If I must at least the Prius is not made by the EVIL BMW gestapo! Therefore it might be reliable, which the Super Duper Mini Cooper Pooper Scooper is NOT!!

The "Prius is green" farce has taken over the world. Am I the only one who has read about the overall environmental impact of a Prius (including battery manufacture and disposal) is greater than that of a Suburban?

Of course, the libs like it because, during their ownership it does not pollute a lot.

I'd recommend the Mini for both more fun to drive and less environmental impact.

Darn liberals and their stinkin hybrids! <--- something EL34 would say and 001 would want to but would decide instead to passive aggresively say it in a poorly written article. LOL!

The Mini is sort of useless. Too small to be useful, too slow to be fast, too wasteful to be frugal, too expensive to be affrodable.

If he/she was dumb as box of nails, considers "so you think you can dance" and "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" a "must-see" TV, owns a pot-bellied pig and will only shop at "Abercrombie and Rich", then a MINI.

If he/she knows what ozone layer is, not a fashion whore, and don't want to have regular visits to the chiropractor, then a Prius.
