Mazda releases first images of -5 Superlight concept before Frankfurt
What you’re looking at here is the Mazda MX-5 Superlight concept, scheduled to debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The model is a MX-5 speedster that has been stripped of weight and a windscreen.

Mazda says that the MX5 Superlight concept features lightweight technology that improves performance, handling, fuel economy and reduces CO2 emissions. Unfortunately, the concept is nothing but a show car as of right now - so we’re guessing that it hints at Mazda’s future efforts to incorporate...

What an awesome concept. If they can make this car a bit more balanced (more weight in the rear) and you would finally have a car that's as fun as a Boxster, but you can drive at 90% around town. First thing I'd do is upgrade the wheels/tires and add a little turbo to make it the perfect commuter in Southern California.
