First Teaser Shot: Infiniti Rapide-ly Transforms The 2011 M-Series

First Teaser Shot: Infiniti Rapide-ly Transforms The 2011 M-Series
A little over a week ago, we said that Infiniti desperately needs another volume selling hit like their G-Series cars.

We also suggested they roll the dice and introduce something revolutionary, not evolutionary.

Here is the first teaser image where you can capture the 'Essence' of the car ahead of its Pebble Beach, Concours D'Elegance virtual debut.

Based on the teaser, it looks like the Infiniti design group has been reading their Auto Spies very carefully and have taken our advice by what appears to be a poor mans Aston Martin Rapide, Panamera or CS Concept...whatever sleek four door super 4-door coupe you prefer.

Don't take offense Infiniti that we're calling it a poor mans anything but we think its a bright move to play off the sizzle those cars have generated.

Maybe they should even call it the Essence-GT-L.

A combo of the elegance of the Essence and the excitement of the GT-R.

We're also hearing the guts will be a twin turbo meets hybrid configuration which sounds cool.

What are your thoughts now that you've seen the tease?

Is this a real teaser from Infinity? Is it the production model? If it is it looks pretty big and long, but the coupe shape of it is pretty cool.

Infiniti's newest models have kept true(ish) to their respective drawings like the one above. I'm not an Infiniti enthusiast, but just from seeing that we can assume that the car will at least look good from the side profile

Hmmm, not too shabby.

YEah, I don't really like to have heritage of being known of abusing Jews and used them as slaves to build war engines. But that's just me.

not for nothing, but the japanese werent exactly saints either, during WWII. Read up before making ignorant comments (besides, this is a car post)...

Side profile is stunning for a sedan. If the info is not given with the teaser, some might even confuse it for a Supercar like LF-A/Essence and not even a coupe.
My expectations are raised a lot, I hope infiniti don't disappoint at the end.

They already have CUVs. The M is an important model and this is the next generation of it. Can't wait to see this car in the real.

This is big part of the market and it's important they get it right. I was never a fan of the current M's looks, but I know people who've had them and they were all very happy with their cars. If that teaser is anything remotely close to reality, it'll do very well. Tough to get people out of their BMW's, but this will give the rest of the competition a hard time.

So far it looks like it is going to be a pretty hot car. It has a very nice shape. Can't wait to see more of it.

I never thought about doing the M that way, but I've been saying for years that Infiniti should stop chasing the Lexus LS with their Q, and offer something similiar to the Maserati Quattroporte instead.

Invisible, you dont really sound like you know what you are talking about. The EX is not to bad in size, I fit in the back seat pretty comfortably and I'm 5'10" 200 lb's and thats with a 6' 375er in the front. i'm pretty excited to see this new M but I really need to see it. I think Infiniti is wrong to keep these things secret.. they need to show it off and build excitment. Just show the damn car already

It appears these nutbags have not learned from their disastrous 1990's ad campaign, when they introduced the M45. Hence their huge loss of vehicles sales to the Lexus LS400.
