FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW SCOOP: Mystery BMW Concept Photos Caught Before Frankfurt Debut

Dr. Klaus Draeger, member of BMW's board of management has told AutoTelegraaf, the dutch auto news site, that BMW has plans to debut a sustainable sports concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2009. According to Dr. Draeger, the sports car concept will feature "sustainable design and material elements."

If past reports are any indication, this upcoming sports car concept may be used to study the viability of creating a 2 seater sports car which showcases BMW's latest environmental technology (such as lightweight materials, stop-start systems, regenerative braking systems, direct injection, etc.). Word is a limited production run could possibly start sometime in 2012.

The shape of the greenhouse looks very promising, but the front end looks strangely tall/blunted, and the gaps in the wheel-housings are unpleasantly huge in this pic, almost like a crossover... We'll see soon enough.

You just know the dude's name had to be Klaus or Helmut lol. Anyone remember that piece of crap 'Gina' design from a while back? I sincerely hope this is not another lame attempt at something bordering on the absurd. Come on BMW, give us a rival to the R8, that's what people are yearning for.

It looks like a car inspired in the Mitsubishi Lancer or EVO...lol...Let see the real thing cause the drawings scream "Mitsubishi".

I find the front end interesting, the hood is so short and stubby with a very horizontal grille, almost reminds me of the front of a mustang when you look at it from the side. I don't know about this one, I feel like it's either going to be a huge hit or a big miss.
