Toyota Corolla beats Ford Focus as most traded in for a clunker
White House officials said late Wednesday that sales under the government’s Cars Allowance Rebate System (Cash for Clunkers) topped 180,000. The Department of Transportation said 184,304 deals have been submitted, totaling $775.2 million. That leaves about $175 million in the fund after administrative costs.

Title is wrong.....More people purchased the Corolla than the Focus. Title implies they traded in a Corolla.

the title is wrong and misleading. so is the logic. it presumed there would've been 200k sales normally THRU november, but the cash for clunkers sales all occurred in only about ONE WEEK.

I guess the analysis of the benefit of additional sales needs to be revised; the blogger didn't figure in the nearly 20% "administrative overhead" (read: government waste). So if there would have been 200k sales normally, and Cash for Overhead generated 184k, what did we buy, exactly? I guess we'll have to wait to see what the end-of-year sales numbers are, to see how much of a horrible waste this all was...
