Want To See The REAL Next Audi A8 TODAY In Person? Here's Where You Can!
Dear 001,

I just got a tipoff from my man at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina Del Ray that Audi is giving a PRIVATE showing of the next A8 to influential customers as we speak...I'm told it goes from 9-1pm.

So if anyone is near there, get a camera and see if you can get us all shot!

Oddjob

I came back from Marina del Rey sooo disappointed - It's just an enormous A3/A4/A6. when will they take the risk to differentiate their models? Sort of like what Porsche did with their 911 lineup throughout the years (same looking thing over and over again) Now look at them, they are owned by Volkswagen. I guess Audi can't get any worst since they are pretty much VWs with leather.

Got a pic and how does it compare to the spy photos that ran Monday?

Is it basically the Concept that was in Detroit except with a higher roofline?

How were you able to get into this private showing? Or did you?
And you expect us to take your opinion about the A8 seriously after stating that Audis are pretty much VWs with leather?

Personally - I'm still not convinced that the 'test mule' pictured here is (in fact) the next gen A8, as it really does appear a bit too small/narrow/insubstantial, and much closer to the size of the A6 (which I happen to believe it is). As for the 'showing', there's little doubt that those in attendance will be viewing something much closer to the white SportBack Concept that has been making rounds on the auto show circuit... We'll See Soon Enough

Leftlane is also reporting that the above is the A8.

This is 100% the new A8. Notice the comfort rear headrests in the backseat that are exactly like the current A8. This is the short wheelbase model.

If this is indeed the 2010 A8 in the photographs above, Audi was lying when they said the new car will be more aggressive and imposing.

This car just looks like the current generation A8 with a revised rear-end and some LED headlights, which are standard on the current model.

I don't think the 2010 A8 will look like this tester. I'm sure it will look A LOT more like the concept seen at the auto show.

Im confused so the current A8 got another refresh with a new front and rear, upgraded interior im guessing.....?

bmwdrvr, yes the current A8 got another "refresh" if you want to call it that.

Basically the A8 now has the trademark Audi LED head lights as standard on all models as well as the LED tailights as standard on all models too.

The interior got some other little minor upgrades as well.

I don't think this is the new 2010 A8, despite what many sources are reporting. Audi has said ALL ALONG that the new 2010 A8 will be a much more aggressive and imposing car with an interior that is the new standard bearer in its class.

This car is neither aggressive and imposing nor is its interior best in class.

These photos do not match up with the description Audi executives have been giving us about the car for the past six months and trust me, although Audi executives have traditionally been conservative with their exterior designs, this is NOT their version of aggressive and imposing.

This is the same thing as the current generation A8.

GTR35- I am of the understanding that you DID NOT see the car in person, only pictures. If that is the case, and I am very confident that it is, you should state that in your rant. Looks are subjective I know...and I HAVE SEEN the new A8,(as well as the A7 and next A6) in the flesh and I disagree with your statement.
