2010 Hennessey Venom GT Capable of 0-60 In 2.4 And A Top Speed of 272MPH!!
For those who thought John Hennessey’s promised supercar would never happen, cool your pessimism: images have hit the Web illustrating the new American wonder. The car will take on the “Venom GT” name, borrowing from Hennessey’s many Viper works. The GT is set for a Geneva debut, where it is being highly anticipated as the hottest independent American exotic since the Saleen S7. The Hennessey will utilize a lightweight body (2,400 lbs.), a high-output V-8, and unholy figures: 2.4 sec. 0-60 sprints, 270+ mph top speed, and as much as 1,200 hp.

"gtr will run laps around this venom and any porsche, lambo, or ferraris... so will my 300zx."

- I'll gladly talk anyone of those cars over your Old-School 300zx. And so will anyone else (including yourself).

Your 300ZX will break down before it runs half a lap around my golf cart.

Impressive, it does kinda remind me of a cross between a Lotus and a Saleen. Outstanding figures nonetheless.

It looks like something that should be on the LeMans starting grid, although it wouldn't be allowed to compete because of an unfair performance advantage.

So this is that aero thing with a different exterior and a little more power?

Hey I can draw a picture too (Hennessy's pic looks like a lengthened Lotus Exige to me) and say my car will do 300mph.

Let's see something in the metal (or composites) and some preliminary test numbers before anyone gets excited...

Put this thing on the road and lets see if a V8 will get it to 270+ mph.

at 2400lbs with 1200hp I don't see why it wouldn't. A Veyron is a whopping 1700lb's heavier and has 200hp less, and does over 250. Frankly the only way this thing wouldn't perform as advertised would be if it didn't actually attain the power and weight figures provided, or if it had the aerodynamics of a brick.

V8's can do 270+ MPH. Look at some of the drag cars. The question then becomes...how many times can it do it before the engine or transmition blows up.

Hennessy isn't some fly by night manufacturer, so I will give the company the benifit of the doubt, however I'm still a little skeptical. I'm wondering who will be designing the tires for this vehicle to accept 270+ mph on street legal tires.

272 MPH top speed is a tall order, I'll wait and see.
