Review: Lexus IS...control freak's dream?

If control is indeed a fantasy, then the IS 250 is a control freak's dream. It is a wonderfully responsive car. Steering is tight, precise. It feels perfectly balanced, especially on twisty, downhill roads where multiple weight transfers -- some of them abrupt -- could cause a lesser automobile to lose its composure.

The car's optional all-wheel-drive system bolsters driver confidence on wet and snow-covered highways. Power shifts automatically from slipping to gripping wheels. The action is smooth, non-intrusive.

An array of other electronic defenses, including advanced traction and stability control systems, as well as electronic brake distribution and other braking assistance technology, help keep the IS 250's driver and passengers safe.

Please elaborate on your statement about BMW's view on ultimate performance. Many people claim interfaces such as iDrive and SMG give too much control for a normal driver to deal with and hence distract from the actual driving experince.

I don't get the pricing, though. What makes Toyota think they can charge this much for this car? Remember the Supra, and the first MR2? Other than their utility in an age of massive (then) novelties known as SUVs, the second reason they dropped out of sight was the overpricing. Otherwise they were good cars. This Lexus is a darned well-built car, but I can't get past the pricing.

When did the 325xi get a 3.0 liter? Wouldnt it be a 330xi?

Bmw website says it comes w/ a 3.0 liter.

Perception is reality! Both cars are wonderful. Personally after driving a IS 350(non-sport pkg) on the track back to back with the BMW 330 sport pkg, I prefer the IS 350.
