AUTO SPIES WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Spies get first pricing on 2007 Mercedes S-class



One of the most anticipated new cars for 2007 is the new S-Class from Mercedes.

Ther ehas been tremendous speculation regarding pricing of the S550.

Most rumores have been saying that pricing would rise on the new car but were happy to break the news that the rumors are NOT true.

Base price of the new S550 will be BELOW the old S500 as we predicted.

Official USA base price for the S550 will be $85,400 + $775 destination.

I'd bet you will have to wait for 2 years to get it under msrp.

I very seriously doubt any of us (MB Dealers) will give price concessions on these cars until they are plentiful in our inventories. Which will be at least late summer/fall. Don't expect much then, either. The production will be slow.

If you know anything about new MB model launches, they are always slow. The people who keep up with new models, and arrivals have either already put orders in, or are waiting to put their hands on one first. Once they get out there (on the road) more people who don't keep up regularly will notice them, and start looking and buying. Generally, in the past, the new models take at least a few months to really get much attention. On the other hand, when you introduce a new "flagship" model, there can be quite a buzz. As far as making a lot of money on them, count on it.

Good to keep prices low on S class becoz there is always an E class and CLS.The only way to boost up the sales of new S is to kepp it's prices low, nearrer to 7 series,A8,Lexus LS...etc

Otherwise people will go for almost the equivalents CLS or E class.As u all know that there is nothing sooooo special in S class design and interiors to appeal to the coustomers sooo much that they don't think of it's strongggg rivals.

So MB be carefull,have success with the new S as always and not to loose grounds to it's rival in this generation.

U have to work out a lotttt for keeping the MB S as the benchmark of Luxury and Luxury Sedan.
