Bentley Reveals Its Latest & Greatest Flagship, The 2010 Mulsanne
Move over, Arnage.  The new kid is in town.  Today, Bentley unveiled the latest and greatest from the luxury icon: the 2010 Bentley Mulsanne.  And, its looks were not exactly a secret as spy shots got a dead-on look at this auto before it's debut.

According to Bentley, the Mulsanne is designed to replace the aging, decade-old Arnage.  Bearing an entirely new platform, that will be produced starting next year, the new Bentley will be constructed within the Crewe, England factory.

Although details remain vague on the latest B-car, if history serves as a guiding principle, the flagship will likely use a large displacement V8 capable of 425 - 550 horsepower and an unwieldy amount of torque.

Dr. Franz-Josef Paefgen, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, spoke about the all-new Mulsanne, saying:

“The challenge we set our engineers was to create a new grand Bentley that would stand as the pinnacle of British luxury motoring, offering the world’s most exclusive driving experience. They have responded to this challenge with real passion and the result is a luxury grand tourer that sets new standards in terms of comfort, effortless performance and hand-crafted refinement – the very qualities for which Bentley is renowned.“

Look for the 2010 Mulsanne to go on sale in mid-2010.  More information about this new model will be coming forward this September at the IAA in Frankfurt Motor Show.

Much better looking than the low quality early pics.

Yeah... those pictures made this vehicle look more like a Geely. The front is actually rather acceptable. I like how they didn't forget about details.

Let's hope that the interior is worth looking at.

The front end is .... huh.. different ?
I guess we'll get use to it, as with the phantom.

It looks like a Chinese Phantom, or one of those Japanese Neo Classics its not bad looking just incredibly derivative like a car that started out as a Phantom, than was slightly restyled with other desighn cues to make it look like somethine else

It's very Ford Granada with the single bigass round headlamps. Yuck.

Dissapointment. Headlights look like abnormal version of current
Arnage or Chinese Arnage clone.

Weedhopper, wait until you see the car in person.

I think this Bentley looks awesome.

I'm sure a new Breitling for Bentley will be along soon.

so the "autospies? and the secret "agents" are AT this event and can only manage to post the factory press photos of this car? Thank god for fortitude, germancarscene and a dozen other sites. None of them are "spies" but they managed to get this pics up first thing this morning.

I saw pics of it the day before...it is hideous in my opinion so I did not stay for the introduction at noon.

I figured the pres photos would hurt readers eyes enough.

So I let those other sites focus on that while I focused on the cars that were the real highlights.

The GT is wonderful but I've never like the Spur or the older models.

This one is a grand step backwards in design.

The Rolls Ghost BLOWS this thing off the map.

I think the headlights look beautiful as I think of the entire car.

I can't stand the Nissan Maxima headlights and never will.

the front end is awkward at best, but like all evolutions of any vehicle (take the BMW 7series) sometimes it gets better looking as we see more of it. i guess we get used to looks that seem different at first glance.

I don't even think 50 Cent, P-Diddy or any of the rapper's who will buy this P.O.S. Will even like it! Yet again they "gats" Platinum and diamond encrusted "Grill's" for their "Teef" That will match the front end of "da" "grand Bentley" Beautifully!

You can not style a car after one from the 1930's that did not have fenders!! Then again the company is now owned by GErman's ad the Navigation systems all point to Poland!

I absolutely adore the current Bentley Azure, Brooklands, and Arnage, but this, this is am having difficulty liking. It just isn't as refined as any of the current top-of-the-line models.

After contemplating the design a while, I have a couple of things:

1) The rear 3/4 panel bulge is not appropriate, and is worse off for it. It is a concession to being fluid in a car that has the approximate aerodynamics of a refrigerator. It simple does not fit, but it appears that it would not be that hard to fix.

2) The front lights do, indeed look a bit strange, I understand that by modifying the proportions of the front they almost had to do something like this, but it is awkward nonetheless.

3) The front bumper is not fitting either. the rear has integrated bumper and the front has this strange, almost tacked-on, looking bit.

In my mind, 1 and 3 are worse than 2.

When using diffent-sized dual round headlights, it always looks better when the smaller one is INSIDE and the larger one is placed near the edge of the fender. Otherwise the result is always ackward. Kinda reminds me the 2000 hyundai Tiburon headlights setup.

Bottom line, Bentley does not care about what anyone in here has to say because nobody here is going to purchase one. Say its ugly all you want. The point is, we do not know what design studies were conducted with past/potential buyers, so Bentley can care less what everyone on this website says about it's products.

My mother is actually going to buy a new Bentley this year she just commissioned over the Maserati Quattroporte I wanted her to get because it had a "better ride" an optional "umbrella in the trunk" and "nicer carpet!" So never assume yum yum!

Thierry,

are you sure of that, you mean all the time I spent commenting on this obscur website did NOT impact the development of any new car ???

Damn I feel so disapointed. All these good ideas and advices... all in vain... Carmakers never read them you're sure ?

God...

I was also unaware that it was not allowed to comment on cars that are out of our reach. I'm really sorry.

hahaha...

Pennfootball, I still stand by my comment that:
1) you are not buying the car, its your mom.
2) please specify the model she is getting. Is she on the list to get the mulsanne? Arnage?

MSP6,
Yes, you can comment, but i'm just saying it doesnt change what Bentley thinks...

It's better-looking than the Rolls-Royce Phantom, but that's not saying much. I hope the headlights look better "live" than they do in these photos.
