Stillborn Lexus IS-F Racing Team Goes Up For Sale For Pennies On The Dollar
Lexus fans might remember about a year ago DRC Motorsports promised to bring a trio of IS-Fs to the ever popular Speed World Challenge Series in 2009.  At long last, Lexus fans were going to get a chance of addressing those pesky german fanboys questions of if the IS-F could run with the big boys.

After late season testing in 2008 proved promising, it seems the wheels fell off the proverbial apple cart sometime early this year, and the IS-F trifecta failed to make it to the 2009 starting grid at SWC.  Publically nothing  was heard of those imposing looking blue bullets that graced the track in 2008. That was until I looked around and found the cars just as they were back then, just this time they were for sale on a website to the highest bidder.

For just a mere $250,000 some lucky sole can now purchase the complete DRC team and take on the big boys in SWC and show them whose boss.

Ha ha ha, good one 009. These poor Lexus guys should take a note about running with the big boys from Audi. Remember the follwing:

Funny how we never hear about that fabled 7:30 lap lol. Try 7:50.

It is hard to compare one lap to a whole season. Every dog has his day and the IS-F has yet to see that day.

Except that this isn't the IS-F. This is just a race-modified IS350 with a customized V8 engine. Try the IS-F bashing with valid materials next time.

Read the specs and you see this is a 4.7 L V-8 4 not the 3.5 liter six. The IS350 never made it to the the track in race form other than to perform chassis tuning.

FanboyOfTheTruth- Ok I double checked the technical approvals and specifications form the SWC website (I have made a mistake or two in the past). The all of the IS series cars specs approved or officially listed for homologation in 2008 and 2009 were for 6 cylinder cars. These V8 equipped IS variants list for sale are obviously the IS-F and compete in the GT class (as sale papers indicate). The IS350 was again simply a test mule in 2008, these were the real deal for 2009.

009 did you even read the link you posted? This pic of the New Vehicle Homologation Form right in the link you posted shows clearly that it's a modified IS350 with a LS/GS430 V-8 engine bored-out to 4.7L.

Try harder next time.

Finally, a Lexus I'd like to have, that's one cool car!

Hope someone will buy the team back and put those machines where they belongs : on a race track.

Hate to see racers being grounded...

The rules are still open for the car to run in the series. All somw one needs to do is pick up the pieces and hire a driver.

A complete car and a team for only that much?!

right, thats just to buy the rights to the team and the equipments. That does not include operating the team each race/preparations.

too bad its not an ISF but just an IS350 race trimed. You can't discredit the car for the teams lack of competitiveness. It's either from the lack of money or lack of skill. Probably the first.

I think they ran these cars and realised that they didn't stand a chance at running with the big boys so they decided to rather pull the plug than humiliate themselves.

They only ran in the Touring series with a v6 as a shake down, the ultimate goal was GT with the V8.

again lack of money and development was their downfall just like i said before, it was either lack of skill or money and it wasn't the first since one of the drivers was a former champion in the series. The engine they were going to use (the V8) was from the Rolex Series Daytona Prototype Lexus Riley car. over 550HP

I guess they realized that the car wouldn't be able to compete. Better to cash in now and save face.
