Federal Cash For Clunkers Program May Run Out Of Funding By Labor Day

Federal Cash For Clunkers Program May Run Out Of Funding By Labor Day
Dealers have started dipping into the second half of the $3 billion cash-for-clunker fund as they continue to apply for federal money at a pace likely to deplete the program around Labor Day weekend.

As of this morning, dealers had filed 411,624 claims for $1.72 billion, the U.S. Department of Transportation said. That's a $217 million increase from Friday.

The figures include only government rebates sought by dealers for credits of $3,500 or $4,500 provided to consumers.

The numbers don't indicate how many of these applications have been rejected by the government, nor do they pinpoint how much has been paid out to dealers. The government hasn't released those figures.

yeah, maybe republicans told him about that tree where money grows where they get funding for the pointless trillion dollar iraq war, while giving tax cuts to the richest americans.

even ancient greece 3000 years ago raised taxes during war. Bush is the first "decider" in the history of human kind to go to war with tax cuts.

thanks for biggest deficits in history you douchebags. and you have the balls to whine about $3 billion CARS???????

Afghanistan is where they should have went in the first place. Extending the war in Iraq is needed because the last administration fouled that up so bad that they cannot leave.

I hope it does, then we won’t have to hear the insistent whining of both side. May when the cash is gone we can actually, you know, hear about cars.

Seems like the program has been pretty sucessful and is putting Americans back to work. Nice to see a president create a plan that actually works. I have no problem giving more of my tax dollars to a project like this. Unlike the useless war that we have wasted trillions of dollars and thousands of innocent men and women soldiers.

Watch what you say. There are folks here that would never acknowledge Obama having a sucessful program. Thats why I think those folks are retarded. How about a little objectivity?

Why doesn't bonehead Obama kick in a million of his own money to keep his Socialized program going?

You keep using the term socialism even though its been proven to you that Obama isn't a socialist. Obama could cure Aids and Cancer and folks like you would say that "some one else would have done it anyway"
