Audi's 450hp RS5 Gets Caught Undergoing Testing

Audi's 450hp RS5 Gets Caught Undergoing Testing

Audi isn’t letting the current malaise in the world financial outlook get in the way of some super coupe testing, as these images of the company’s RS5 clearly show.

Building on what is already a phenomenally good car, the S5, RS5 turns up the wick with a 450 horsepower V-8 engine. The uprated power is hinted at by the large twin exhaust pipes as well as a small spoiler on the trunk lid. Our shooter informs us that the car sounds really beautiful as well—a fact we don’t doubt after listing hard to other high-performance Audis.

we have the new S4's tomorrow

Should be fun at $45,900 with great standard features. I worked a lease with $2,950 down on a premium + nav and the payments are in the mid $700's
nice

Impressive looking vehicle with the specs to match. I wish the regular A5 had more power to compliment its looks.

Totally agree. The A5 looks great, but is seriously underpowered.

I will be the first to say that the RS5 will be sporting more than 450hp.

There are too many of its competitors with over 420hp so i think Audi will make it closer to 480hp maybe even 500hp. Remember the RS5 will be heavier than the M3 and C63 so on paper at least will need the extra HP.

The RS5 will most certainly come in north of 80k if previous RS pricing holds form. Also, size of vehicle in addition to the price point will make it competitor to the M5 and E63.

Should be a class leader, and it will make the "M" and "C" better cars. Gotta love competition.

evil homer- what did you come up with for payments on a prestige S4 fully equipped? My bet is well over $800 per month on a lease for the new V6 model. How is that an improvment when the outgoing model has a V8 with the same payment. Hmmmm.......I'd rather have the current model......

I would consider a used RS4 first before getting a left over S4 unless you get an insane price for it

mid 700s on an s4 thats 50k. come on please are you kidding me. i pay that for an m3 convertible and my cars sticker was 78k. audi is a joke. even though their cars look awsome.

80k for the rs5 that will come in last against the c63 and the m3 as always most expensive with the worst performance and please dont tell me quattro like every audi dealer and im not hating i love the way audi looks and the interior i just think that they think they are far better when they are not.

markannthony have you ever heard of limited edition cars? Audi builds far fewer RS models than BMW does M and Mercedes does AMG. When you combine this exclusivity with excellent build quality, you will charge a higher price than the competition. The RS4 used to spank the BMW M3 and C63 AMG because it was newer. The same will be the case with Audi's RS5 until BMW and Mercedes launch their new M and AMG models respectively.

It's nice not seeing an RS4 or RS5 on every single street corner like you do an M3. Also, Audi's RS models, while direct competitors to BMW's M and Mercedes-Benz's AMG models, give you a more involved driving experience when compared to the C63 AMG and more security than a BMW M3 (far heavier and with Quattro AWD vs. the BMW's RWD setup)

limited edition come on dude get real. audi doesnt send their cars here because they lose money here due to the fact that the dollar is weak. instead of the US getting them china and india are getting them. There limited because nobody wants them lol and use to be better that was 10 years ago beat the M once. oh nice to see you say quattro like every other audi dealer or fan. truth is when there is bad weather you take your other car or truck out. Finally how are you going to see an rs5 on every corner they arent even out yet.

Sorry but the RS models have ALWAYS been limited production cars...
And it is a good thing that Audi does not rely on the U.S market as heavily as BMW or MB.. look at these 2 brands now.. sales are down in double digits, profits have crumbled.... oh yeah.. good idea....
Audi cut down production for the U.S to concentrate for Europe and Asia.
I really don't see why you say that Audi is behind??
Not sure I understand your logic... BMW is behind Audi right now with the M5 then as the RS6 spanks it...
Is there a reason why you did not buy your M3?
Kinda proves that Audi clientele is wealthier than BMW clientele... all the $$$ Audis are bought by the clients.. not leased.

audi is always late they arent new they are behind. the m and the amg have been out and if beaten (which i doubt highly) it wont be by much and thats because they are going after an old model. (kind of like the cts-v beating the M5) the m5 is what 6 years old now. I am quite sure the new m5 will take the cts-v (it should becuase its 25k more) I love the cts-v and I also love the s5 just logic says get the m over the S or rs more bang for your buck

Audi is always late? Yeah, the R8 was certainly late to the game wasn't it. I don't recall seeing a BMW or Mercedes competitor that Audi followed with its R8.

Markanthony take your BMW M3 out on the snow and ice and tell me how far you get. I'll bet the RS4 easily is the more secure and stable car under bad weather conditions.

Limited edition because no one wants them?? Sorry, the RS4 was sold out, the R8 is sold out and the RS6 is selling very well in Europe.

Keep telling BMW and Mercedes-Benz to focus on the U.S. market.....their sales and profit can crumble further while Audi focuses on Europe and China and increases its sales and profitability.

The sales and profitability numbers don't like...Audi is absolutely crushing BMW and Mercedes-Benz in sales (on a percentage decline basis) and profitability.

The U.S. market is crumbling and sales are contracting sharply. China's auto market is growing and sales are soaring. I think Audi is making a very sound move by allocating their RS-cars to the growing markets.

german nut do you think i care if the companies sales crumbles in the US or what their sales are in europe? i could care less if they make money or not. i know the bmw dealer lost money on the M that i got. do you think i feel bad? they wanted over 1000 a month for the s5 the car was 58k loaded i got mine 770 80k now be honest with yourslef what would you take, the m3 convertible or the s5. exactly and thats my point. id rather get the better value . im not focused on the badge but the value. i like audi cars i think they look great but are highly over priced for what you get. if you have an rs5 m3 amg what have you i am sure your not taking them out in the snow. i dont and wouldnt. if it snows i take my truck. oh wait what snow globull warming we cant even have a v8 right?

the rs4 convertible the audi dealer by me and probably still had was going for 15k under sticker so sold out i highly doubt. again i will state i live in the states could care less about what goes on in europe and I dont care about company profits. i care about one thing ME and thats the difference if audi made a better car for same price i will be driving an audi or benz or what have you but they dont. im not a bmw fan boy when i get an rs5 its because the price was right not because its audi. before my M3 i had an infiniti, before that acura so proves i dont care about the badge. one last thing just curious all you people saying how great an rs4 is or rs5 will be do you even have one? ever done more then a test drive? ever had the competition? you argue for audi or bmw or root for derek jeter like they pay your bills. i have news for you audi bmw the yannkees or whoever dont care about you

There's only one thing worse than a badge whore: one who professes neutrality and self-righteously protests others' fanaticism on an automotive-enthusiast website. A non-enthusiast could easily make the argument that your BMW, Infiniti, and Acura, having lesser-priced equivalents (you know, point-A-to-point-B transportation), makes you a badge whore--just not a loyal one.

I am a badge whore.

markanthony, there is only one thing that car companies, or all businesses for that matter, care about and that would be MAKING $$$ (or Profit).

The reason you see Audi with such high monthly lease payments is simple: Audi will NOT offer profit-eroding incentives to move volume. That would be BMW's approach, which, consequently, has caused BMW's profits to go down the toilet.

no audi ships there cars to india and china which is great for the company as i have already stated i dont care about any company. as an earlier poster had said competition is better for the consumer. if audi doesnt offer a lease i get the m if bmw doesnt offer a lease i get the amg if neigher do i get the cts-v many many options if your not a fan boy or badge bunny. now i ask you german nut you have a choice of the s5 for 1100 a month or an m3 convertible for 770 a month which do you take? s5 or m3. pick one no explanation just be real. which do you take? any one of you on this board answer that. i will be the first to tell you if the m3 rs5 and c63 are all equal payments i take the rs5 but things are not equal.

troll thats funny. I am not loyal to any brand or company and i am a troll hysterical but thats the mind set cant debate a point so resort to name calling i wonder if your a liberal because if you dont agree with a lib then you are automatically wrong and called a name and if you would take a S5 over an M3 I will bet your in the minority.

I would take the M3 for $770/month versus the S5 for $1,100/month. However, it would be nice to drive a sharp-looking and comparatively rare Audi.

I'm glad you got the M3 for a steal. I hope BMW continues to offer such cheap discounts so their profitability sinks ever deeper into the red.
