Toyota improves storage capacity of lithium-ion batteries
Toyota Motor Corp., a company who isn’t a fan of lithium-ion technology, has dramatically increased the storage capacity of the batteries to create more practical electric-vehicles. Toyota says that the move is a step forward to creating a more powerful battery for EVs.

According to Japan’s Nikkei newspaper, the technology will eventually allow lithium-ion batteries to store 10 times the energy when compared to current ones. It will allow...

This sounds like a huge breakthru. Evening News kind of stuff! Why have I not heard this yet anywhere else? I'll wait to see this get confirmed before getting excited. Think of the benefits to everything battery powered, not just EV's.

TEN times the energy! Great innovation from Toyota. This is exactly the kind of breakthrough we need to carry us into the era of emission-free motoring.

Can you explain the concept of emission free motoring? For some reason I just see more coal being burned as a result of this.

There are many ways to generate electricity without burning coal. Do some research first.

I have done the research. There are no economical ways to generate electricity without burning shit or drowning vast amounts of land or using nuclear power. You do some research first before believing everything the media tells you.

And nuclear power is not economical because?

Nuclear power is economical, but just try convincing anyone to install one in their backyard by telling them it is saving the planet.

You guys are funny, although I do give you credit for trying so hard to come up with something negative to talk about in this a breakthrough of this magnitude which you only wish were invented by the Germans so that you guys can sing full praise to it. ;)

Fanboy, I'm waiting to hear about this magical emission free future you talk about. I'm not saying this breakthrough by toyota is a bad thing. The sooner they can go pure electric in my opinion the better. This hybrid mish mash is a waste of time and money by making cars that still burn fuel and use expensive harmful chemicals in the batteries.

Finally we are seeing progress, lets celebrate when this hits the showrooms, the government will not like the reduced gas consumption, less tax.
