Obama Blames Bush for Starting Automaker Bailout, But Takes Credit For Their Recovery
President Barack Obama today criticized the Bush Administration for writing a "blank check" to General Motors and Chrysler, and called his own administration's auto bailout "a necessity."

In a radio interview, Obama defended his decision to boost loans to GM and Chrysler to a total of $65 billion, after his predecessor's administration loaned them $17.4 billion last winter.

"The auto interventions weren't started by me. They were started by a conservative Republican administration," Obama told Philadelphia radio host Michael Smerconish this afternoon in a White House interview.

"The only thing that we did was rather than just write GM and Chrysler a blank check, we said, 'You know what, if you're going to get any more taxpayer money, you've got to be accountable.' They went through a record bankruptcy, and now GM for the first time is actually hiring folks back."

What do you expect, Obama is a simple community organizer.

In other words Obama is a turd without experience.

kraut, just listen to NancyPelosi and Barney Frank. Constantly crying about how the CIA lied, throwing Leon Panetta under the bus. Barney "sell butt out of my tax payer apartment with young interns" Frank can't help but blame everyone else for the Faney Mae/Freddy Mac debacle, but he and Max. Waters on C-Span said congress was fear mongering (the lefts diatribe lingo) about giving out sub-standard loans, but hay who has the short memory or how about not even calling these losers out. Their crying has always been the same. And if you can side with these two loosers, then great, knock yourself silly.

Im a conservative that is enjoying the exposure that liberalism is getting. It has screwed up California and all other liberal states, and now on a full blown national level. Let it raise its ugly two heads . The American people are finally seeing the direction it will send and are furious ,which is what we need. In Obamas 2 years as a senator during the bush administration he never said anything. The items he voted on were part of what is going on. Obama only inherited his own policy. There are some that may dissagree with me and thats ok, thats the greatness of america and we should never forget that. America needs to get back to Gods word which is what our founding fathers built the foundation for this country. I know this is a car blog but due to current policy, politcs is greatly affecting the auto industry to say the least. We need to let the free enterprise system thrive with government playing a very small role.

Not crying in fact im very pleased with how things are going. The american people are mad and speaking out against this direction and im glad. Socialism has not worked in every country that has tried. All socialist programs we have now are bankrupt. A one payer health system takes away yours and my choices and I can go on and on. We will have to agree to disagree.

That doesn't change the victorcrate mentality this administration has. Every speech refers back to Bush. He lost, Obama won, but he doesn't act like a leader. I've NEVER seen a president do this. Ever. True, the Bush Administration was reckless to a fault in spending and W. didn't see a bill he couldn't pass, but when do this President man up and move on? With poll numbers falling like a stone, you would think he would change his tone. Move on. He was elected to fix the problem, not blame. It's old and you will see more to come guaranteed.

Bush did not lose. His 2nd Term Finished. {Only allowed 2 terms}

And he is only reminding you of the Recent History of GM and Chrysler as the Republicans have a clear track record of Extremely Short Memories and a knack of rewriting history to potray them in a better light.

hmm..kind of ironic, as Bush used to blame Clinton for many years into his term for all the bad Clinton supposedly did.

Need I remind you, Clinton left office with the country having one of the best 8yrs ever and was to continue ongoing improvement until the non-educated W stepped in and taunted his cowboyish ways.

I blame W and his admin for the downfall of the economy...sure the dems played a role, but ultimately, W and his admin steered the country right into a parked car!

Doesn't surprise me one bit. If Bush had done NOTHING then Obama would bitch that the previous Administration sat around and let the situation get out of hand. He's being a typical politician- the minute support starts to wane (can anyone say poll numbers worse than Bush after the same time in office)then he blames everyone else for it rather than truly looking for some bi-partisan way to work through it.......

message to EL34 you are crap and so are your unfound comments on the president along with the gay ass picture you have of him standing in front of that flag. people like you are the reason for downfall of society the one's who think they know it all. but put yourself in the presidents shoes and you'd crumble under the pressure. no one here understands the judicial system in the light that obama does. Do some research work and it shows that he does know what he's doing on issues that are concerning the country, and have you paid any attention to the stock market as of late? it's up over 50% for this year so far, starting when? March! And when did Obama take office? March. Blame should be placed on the liar that was Bush. Two wars over two trillion for two terms of a two-timing twit.

Well somebody had to fix Bush's mess that he made of this country. I am just glad that Obama is smart and can hopefully fix the economy Bush and Republicans destroyed and then move on to fixing the mess that the Republicans made in the Middle East.

What was it Bush did that caused the auto industry to need a bailout?

I don't know it you know this, but car sales are down all over the world.

See another victocrate you can always tell by the wine the eat with their cheese. Grow up. Bush would have done nothing without the control of the Dems in congress. He didn't do it alone. Tons of blame to go around. What the Dems sat around and did nothing and waited for their turn? Stop trippin.

Yawn, more political back and forth. Republicans and democrats are more polarized now more than ever. Add a black man ruling the free world and that throws more paprica into the pot. No matter how much heated tea bag parties are orchestrated, blogs written and forum posts are posted, our two parties will never see eye to eye.

Bush was forced to push the bailout through because of Democratic and Liberal whining. Then Obama the Organizer steps in and shouts about its failure, then opens up a new stimulus that does nothing, tries to fix the auto industry but that does not help, and now wants to fix healthcare. Name the last time a president tried all this at once. What a moron.

BTW the only place I have ever heard of someone being appointed as a Czar would be Communist Russia. So how are we ok with all these Czars who are essentially being given jobs above the people in the departments who had the say.

it's called oversight...those "dept heads" let everything slide. Now they are all being held accountable.

Don;t you just hate it when you have to actually do things the right way and answer to your wrong-doings!

Bush forced to what??? LoL, he must of forgot he VETO pen that day...

And so what if this President tries to correct as many issues as possible? if no one's taken on the burden, should we just let it snowball into the lodge? it's about time we get back on track to correcting things, for to long the republican party got away with "tricking" the masses into thinking the country was doing oh so well.

trickle-down economics was a failure! works in the beginning only to have the foundation collapse under the structure...

"Obama Blames Bush for Starting Automaker Bailout, But Takes Credit For Their Recovery"

who should we blame for the down-spiral? what administration should be held accountable for the lack of oversight to the auto industry over the past few yrs?

obviously, the current admin will take credit. they've gotten Ford on the right track (and a damn good track too). GM and Mopar have filed bankruptcy to start a new and are soon to be on their way back up, at least GM.

things can only get better from here, the nay-sayers are still sour over a "czar" making sure things stay within order. Oversight is always needed...without it, we have 2001-2008 all over again!

"they've gotten Ford on the right track"

uh, Obama did nothing for Ford. Ford refused Government bailout money. remember? Ford got back on track by herself.

Now about the other two that Obama intervened on...(bankruptcy)

he intervened so they wouldn't have to go and declare bankruptcy, but it's not Obama's fault they failed. It's the automakers own fault, Obama doesn't run their business, they do. Place blame where it's due.

Its Obama's fault why the Big 3 failed!! It's Obama's fault why the Financial industry went to crap. Its Obama's fault why we have 50 million uninsured Americans. It's Obama's fault why the insurance companies are ripping off US citizens. It's Obama's fault why we are in Iraq. It's Obama's fault why we have such a large deficit. It’s Obama’s fault that jobs are getting shipped overseas. Its Obama’s fault why American is no longer a manufacturing Country.

The above paragraph is a bunch of BS. But I can tell you this. If Obama doesn’t get his way with health care (I’m not sure if he even knows what he wants). Then America will turn into one Gigantic Hospital designed to maximize the profits of the health industry.

Both parties do not care about the individual. They care about companies. What they fail to realize is that there will not be a middle class if things keep going the way they are going. You are going to have rich folks and you are going to have poor folks. No in between.
