Toyota to buy batteries from Sanyo for its upcoming hybrid minivan
To relieve a shortage that has limited the production of hybrid vehicles, Toyota Motor Corp. is reported to be planning to add Sanyo Electric Co. as its second battery supplier. According to Nikkeibusiness daily, Toyota will begin buying batteries from Sanyo in 2011 for a and that it will start with 10,000 packs a year. Toyota is known to be evaluating lithium ion batteries made by Sanyo but spokesman Paul Nolasco said that nothing has been decided.

it's about time!!!

with a 2/3 family, this is long overdue for me...now how much mpg's are we gaining with the technology? Rite now, my Odyssey avg around 26mpg, if it's over 32mpg...looks like i'll be trading in for the new Sienna (?)

Hmm this is a good idea. My families 05 MPV kinda stinks on gas unless you drive it under 2500 rpm. On a normal day thats tough,imagine with a loaded van,ha!

Don't hold your breath in US for it.
This "hybrid minivan" is for JDM only. The smallish MPV-sized Toyota minivan is not sold in US. Hybrid systems will not show much benefit on heavy vehicles in term of MPG.
