More Shots Of the 2012 Tesla S Pics Leak Out
The Model S is a four-door sedan that the California electric carmaker Tesla plans to build beginning in 2011, presumably as a 2012 model, and says that it will be the "first mass-produced electric vehicle."

Chief designer Franz Holzhausen terms his design “classic modernity” and we agree: this sedan gives up nothing in style to the most elegant luxury sedans with which it competes. Combining the elegance of a Maserati Quattroporte’s front end with wheels pushed to the corners and the muscular fastback of the Jag XF, this is finally an electric vehicle that doesn’t shout with a droll, utilitarian voice.

Not quite as impressive as the concept was, but very nice nonetheless. Additionally: Does anyone else see 'shades' of Mazda's 6 here?

Quite simply, the most attractive modern 4 door car I have ever seen. Imo even more attractive then the Quattroporte and the Rapide. Hell, comparing this car to the Panamera in terms of visual appeal should be illegal.

What is amazing for me, is the fact that it will be built in US. All the very nice concepts coming from US, never are placed in production.

Why does it resemble a watered down Aston Martin?

Staring saving for the $50K purchasing price (after anticipated $7500 fed rebate) plus the $30K battery pack replacement that will be needed in 5 years (expected lifespan). Good deal, ain't it?
What is the alternative vehicles you could buy for $80K?

After seeing pictures of the interior, I think it's a very good deal. Most cars in its class cost $100k +

that is b.s. about those batteries. plus, soon we will have batteries that will last longer than you will live. but keep on hating!

There are batteries that last longer then you live, but they never see below 80% charge. The instant you drop below 80% charge you dramatically reduce battery life. Which is part of the reason why they spent so much time and effort on the volt's battery system and only manage 40 miles on the charge.

looks like a bite off the maserati which i thnk looks way better, i've noticed that all this guys cars are almost copies of other popular cars. The coupe looks like the Gran Turismo and this sedan looks like the Quattroporte

without the badges it would look like a generic version of any modern sports car.

I'm not trying to hate here since I generally like what Tesla is doing, but I see a lot of Ford Probe in this thing.

I see shades of Aston Martin here.

This car was already presented at the Pasadena Art Design event in July. Car looks good in person.

Tesla's will never be a mass market vehicles because there is no backup power source when the batteries run out. This limits the car by definition to being a "city" car and the mass market will not accept this limitation in their everyday driver.
