General Motors sees a significant sales boost on eBay
General Motors’ partnership with eBay has led to a significant sales boost in the domestic market through the online interface. About 2,400 orders for new cars have been received by GM’s dealers in California since the online campaign began. What’s interesting about it is that the online store hosted by eBay received 632,000 visitors.

Rob Chesney, vice president of eBay Motors, said that with 12 million individual car shoppers visiting monthly, this gives a unique insight into how people prefer to buy their cars. Chesney added that through this program, eBay is helping GM dealers to extend their physical showroom while at the same time delivering to eBay buyers the great deals and broad selection they expect from the site. In a release, GM said that 225 dealers registered for the scheme and are selling 2008, 2009 and 2010 cars, crossovers and trucks.

I think it is funny that so many people have such bad experiences with American cars. In my short life of owning American cars, I have owned (2) Pontiacs (2) Fords and (1) Subaru. I had little or no trouble with any of these vehicles. All were bought new & driven 60k-110k miles each. The worst car cost me $1000 over the life of the car for maintenance above and beyond gas, tires, brakes & oil. That is not bad for 12 years of ownership, IMO.

Well that is obvoius when most american cars have been using the same technology from proir generations "to keep costs down" it better have a long warranty.

American cars are good cars. People get stuck on their past. A lot of them are leaders in their class and most offer good bang for buck. German cars probably have more problems than American cars and cost more to repair, but people dont mind because of the name. There's a certain respect you get rollin through in a bimmer so people dont mind paying to keep it running. If a malibu has a problem a person will complain and call it a pos because it doesnt have the same type of respect associated with its name. My BMW 330 has had a few problems here and there and has cost me a pretty penny to fix these problems. The car has 75k and i dont really beat on it. The Trans-Am i use to own had not one problem besides brakes, oil and tires i needed to replace (regular maintainance). That LS1 motor was bullet proof.

That LS1 engine block is based from a 1964 Chrysler 426 Hemi. Thats why its bullet proof.
