GM to pay dealers for clunker rebates
To continue its sales momentum, General Motors decided to step in and lend a hand to dealers upset about the delays in the Car Allowance Rebate System reimbursements. GM announced that it will begin providing cash advances to dealers which are equivalent to the amount of federal rebates which are being processed for that dealership’s qualifying new vehicle sales.

GM expects that as a result, the dealers will have the liquidity to run their businesses effectively and new vehicles will continue to be delivered to customers. Mark LaNeve, GM vice president of sales, in a release said that sales performance in the last couple of months has exceeded internal forecast by over 60,000 vehicles.
