Volkswagen recalling the 2009-2010 Jetta Sportwagen, Jetta, Eos and Golf VI GTI
Volkswagen has announced a recall of 13,500 vehicles built between September 2008 and August 2009 due to problems involving a temperature sensor in the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) transmission. Models affected include the Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, Golf VI GTI, and Eos.

The recall applies to 2009 model year vehicles along with a very limited number of 2010 model year vehicles. The defect causes warning lamps in your dashboard to light up and this is not serious by any means; however, Volkswagen warns the owners that in some cases, the transmission may shift into neutral. This can lead to crash if this occurs when the driver is attempting to overtake another vehicle.

Transmission going into neutral? That's not good.

That's pretty scary. I hope they manage to get every single vehicle in the dealer in time.

Giving a company 160billion like GM is scary and dangerous as well.

Gosh... I just bought a 2009 SportWagen a couple of weeks ago... Lucky for me, I have the cheaper I-5 engine that doesn't come with the DSG tranny. I still wish I had the uprated engine though... this recall will be resolved quickly.

Bravo VW! Though after the coverage from ABC's Good Morning America, you quickly step on the plate and did the right thing! The problem identified, affected vehicles recalled. Unlike what happened to the X3, BMW never acknowledged any problem with the auto, and probably just programmed the exceptions out of the limp mode as a fix.

LOL, was just waiting for Turbospyder to point out another manufacturer's recall. Why did he not post a recall from another German car company?

VW: King of recalls! Will these Germans ever learn how to build cars?
