2009 Nissan 370Z Review

2009 Nissan 370Z Review
Like a fine wine, the Nissan 370Z has gotten better with age. Many manufacturers are making performance cars less exciting, more driver friendly and more road-friendly, as evidenced by the new Evolution and Miata. Here is the question that plagues us: should a sports car have the traditional qualities of being loud, unforgiving, and brutish; or should it be re-made into a daily driver by making it quieter, gentler, and overall more vanilla?

This is the first full redesign of the Nissan Z since its re-introduction in 2003. The 2009 model features a shorter wheelbase, lightweight body materials, a new 3.7L engine with more power and improved fuel-economy, a new 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, the world’s first synchronized downshift rev matching system for the manual transmission and much more. The 2009 Nissan 370Z basically outperforms its predecessor in every aspect, it is faster, it handles better, stops shorter and has a more comfortable and solid ride.

Pretty good review. The Z is an amazing machine. Though I disagree with the article not liking the engine. If I buy a sports car, I want the engine to be rough and aggresive! Good job Nissan.

Whats up with a review months after the car comes out? Theres been reviews about this car since a few months ago. Any car to me can be made a daily driver if it has enough room inside, comfortable seats and the ride height isnt too low. I dont really care about noise, ride harshness and all the other stuff.I test drove this car. It was a yellow,6 spd. Much improved over the 350,but didnt seem as raw. Everything though has been improved. The Synchrorev was cool to use but quickly became annoying and i turned it off. I like the satisfaction of rev matching myself.

i'd persoanlly rather the review be done months after...let the masses figure out the initial kinks and what to expect prior to review and then provide adequate feedback.

I like the prior design better. The current design looks like a Hyundai Genesis.

how does the new z look like a genesis? there are no similarities that i see. it's like comparing a z4 to an s2000, both have 2 doors but share no similar lines whatsoever.

nobody is going to mistake a 370z for a genesis and vice versa...
