The wait is finally over! Jaguar XK

The wait is finally over! The modern-day E-Type has leapt on to the UK's roads for the first time, and Auto Express was there to hitch a ride - and bring you an exclusive glimpse of what it's like to travel in the hottest sports car of 2006.

Away from the glamour of a motor show stand, it's only in the harsh light of day on Britain's damp, gritty December roads that Jaguar's new XK can really prove what it's made of. Is it good enough to tempt buyers away from the likes of Porsche and Aston Martin?

With both the coupé and convertible now given the final stamp of approval by company bosses, the engineers and designers are justifiably proud of their work. There's more than a hint of Aston Martin to some of the XK's lines, though it still has a strong look of its own.

THEY SHOULD HAVE STUCK TO THE CONCEPT, THAT WAS A VERY NICE LOOKING CAR AND NOT CHANGED IT AT ALL, AND PUT A 5.4SC MOTOR FROM THE 07 COBRA IN IT. THEN YOU WOULD HAVE A DB9 FOR LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE!!!

i think the SC 430 is in the top 3 ugliest cars of all time, this thing blows the SC 430 out of the water. I just wish they would have given it more power.

Saw the car at the Miami Auto Show and it is, like the ads say, "gorgeous."

We're going to have to get used to bland front stying because of European pedestrian safety standards.....

As others have said, with the SC430s "angry baked potato" look as competion, this Jag is magical, in comparison.
