Toyota in talks with Bmw about using the Mini Coupe platform
According to the latest reports, Toyota is in talks with the Germans from Bmw about using the Mini Coupe and Roadster platform for its future model variants. It appears that in order to obtain the German platform, Toyota wants to let Bmw to get use of the next-generation iQ, specifically its interior and platform.

Bmw might use this for the next micro electric car, rumored to be called the Isetta. As you may know already, the new Mini Coupe Concept made its debut last week and the convertible version, dubbed Roadster/Speedster is expected to make its appearance at September’s Frankfurt Motor Show!

A collaboration between 2 very competent companies, but somehow I always thought it would be Honda-BMW. Toyota is more process driven. Could be a good thing, we'll have to wait and see.

I just don't think micro-cars are going to be that popular in the USA where we tend drive long distances.

Hahahahaha! Well this destroys huu76's argument from the Vision EfficientDynamics article: "You're just not looking close enough or you can't admit it. Once again, Toyota leads, BMW follows. Suck it up boys." Apparently Toyota couldn't be bothered to make their own platform and have to beg BMW for a piece of their platforms. Sorry huu76...

"BMW would get use of the next-generation iQ, specifically its interior and platform, in return for Toyota using the Mini platform.
The iQ platform could also be used to underpin a production version of BMW’s micro electric car, rumoured to be called the Isetta"

Seems like BMW would get Toyota IQ's Platform and Interior and Toyota just the platform of mini coupe. Aston Martin also want Toyota IQ.
