There will be now Buick coupe based on Pontiac G8, two sedans on the way
The Pontiac G8 is one car that many keep hoping will see resurrection. At first, there were rumors that the much-loved G8 my be revived as a Chevrolet Caprice. General Motors’ Bob Lutz even confirmed that the Detroit automaker will go ahead with a Chevrolet based on the Pontiac G8, only to disappoint us later saying that the company can’t make a business case for it.

"The G8 won’t become the Buick Grand National,” said Docherty. Furthermore, she confirmed that there will be no Buick Coupe and no return of Pontiac...."

So a GTO with poor styling and a really bad grill? Aren't they worried that it will scare the septuagenarians off the lot? ;)

The use of the word "now" instead of "no" confused me for a sec. Okay...no Grand National. Gotcha. I think the problem with that plan is that it would DEFINITELY steal sales from the Camaro. I think later, when Camaro sales level off or perhaps fall off a bit, they will likely come out with a future, updated version of the G8 Chassis and call it the Grand National. Wouldn't it be great if they also got that 3.6L DI V6 stroked (not bored) to 3.8L and drop a Garrett turbocharger on there? For old time's sake? Oh glory...
