Honda Explains Crosstour Pictures Are Akin To Bad Yearbook Photos
Yesterday we discussed the virtual beat-down that the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour is enduring at the hands of Facebook and Twitter. Well lo and behold, the folks at Honda have taken notice, and they've responded. The results are predictably hilarious.

If you visit the Facebook page for the Crosstour, you'll now see a tab entitled "Message to Fans". On it, there's a five-point response to the many, many negative comments posted on the "Wall" section of that Facebook page. Like all good cross-x debaters, Honda's PR team leads with its strongest argument in favor of the Crosstour. Sadly, it's not very strong:

The photos: Arguably, the two studio photos we posted didn’t give you enough detail, nor were they the best to showcase the vehicle. There are more photos on the way. Maybe it’s like a bad yearbook photo or something, and we think the new photos will clear things up.

Yeah, isn't that the way with the internet? People ALWAYS post the pictures that make them look the worst. I mean, practically EVERY TIME I meet someone from an online hook-up, he looks so much better in person than his profile pic.

Oh. Wait.....

Anytime an auto manufacturer has to post a statement online, on the news, wherever to countepoint or defend an automobile you know it's not for the better. They are trying to defend their Pontiac Aztek (maybe not as bad).

I just gotta believe the blind spots in this thing are killer, probably on par with the Infiniti FX. There is a HUGE chunk of paneling where you could easily have put a quarter window.

Word to the wise, if it's offered and your interested in the car, add on the Blind Spot Indicator System, it should come standard with so little visibility.

Have to give it to Honda/Acura. If you want people talking about your products, it's working.?.?.?.

Honda have you considered that maybe, just maybe it's ugly?

Mainly I think that it's just the grill, the rest seems to be ok.

Annie Leibovitz could take a picture of a piece of dog crap, and although the picture would be nice, the end result is still dog crap.

So sad they have to defend the design with a comment like that.

don't think its a bad looking car. there have been a lot of worse designs that have not been bashed up as much as this one.

If it serves a purpose I don't care how ugly it is as long as it does it well, safely and efficiently, this doesn't utilize space as well as it could, so it is ugly, lol

Just Awful. Honda already has the right model, the Tourer, where is it?

From the sides, it does have a Porsche Panamera look to it and probably is the best derivative design element of this vehicle. The rear reminds me of the previous gen Accord, while the front grill looks sort of SUVish.

If the grill wasn't as outsized looking it would make the car seem more proportional and better balanced with the rest of the design. In spite of the negative reaction, I think this still maybe be a good seller for Honda.
