Things are tough all over: Photos of luxury cars abandoned in Dubai
A few short years ago, Dubai was the epicenter of conspicuous consumption. Its mammoth hotels, opulent resorts and over-the-top shopping centers represented the manifestation of man's insatiable hunger for energy.

Today, with a global financial crisis underway and oil prices halved from their highs, even Dubai has fallen on hard times. As unemployment takes its toll, the number of abandoned vehicles has risen by 20%...

Wow... but isn't it easier to hide and care for a car than a yacht? I wonder if those people could afford the cars in the first place...

lol. What you hear in the news about Dubai is so over-hyped. Trust me the city is still as alive as ever, and you will still get stuck in endless traffic on the way to Dubai. I personally think the media is extremely jealous of the success Dubai has been making over the last 10 years, so they will try as hard as possible to make it look bad now that they have the chance.

I was walking in the parking lot of the airport when I arrived from Lebanon, trying to see how many abandoned cars are there since I heard the media exagerating claiming there are many of them! I found one car only, and it was a Toyota Rav4. haha

Checkout the c-pillar, that is definitely NOT a real Ferrari. More likely a $10k body kit that you attach to a Toyota MR-2, or something equally ridiculous.

I went on a trip to my country (Jordan) a month ago and visited Dubai,Egypt,Lebanon etc. Dubai IS alive and well. Still rich, still beautiful, still on top of the money scene. The cars you see there are insane.I told a buddy over there how I really like the E92 M3. He gave me a look of almost disgust. His garage? R34 skyline making 700+hp,turbo Ferrari Testarossa, Orange Lamborghini LP560,Cayenne Turbo. His favorite car is a 2008 Corvette ZO6 with work done to it. He use to have a Ford GT,but wrecked it. I'm sure the country is suffering from the recession, but it surely doesn't make its presence known. The women are gorgeous, the environment is amazing, the cars are to die for,and I believe they have the only 7 star hotel in the world. Everyone is friendly there and you wouldn't believe how the average father or husband can drift a fwd car like its nothing. What I like about the car scene there is that no one is jealous of the next guy and everyone gives you props.

Hell there my fellow Jordanian.. I'm Lebanese :)

And I totally agree with everything you said about this place... But I should correct you on something. We have two 7 star hotels in here. Emirates Palace and Burj Al-Arab. I'm not too sure if they added another one to the list.

I'm going to Dubai next month. It will be my first time there. Maybe I'll find a 911 or GT-R for really cheap. I wonder how buying it and exporting it to the US would work.

A used one here costs around exactly as much as a NEW one in the US. lol.

Already saw the postings about the fake F40. F40 is literally my #1 favorite car of all time. This thing is a disgrace. The hood on the passenger side doesn't line up, the C-pillar puts it all in perspective as the glass and upper body (roof) look like someone took paneling and added it to a car.

The wheels are just wrong, they are not even close to the F40, the edging, center caps, etc. are all just off.

And look at the flip up lamps and the spacing in the paneling there and everywhere. Also you have dust/dirt all over the car except the drivers door in comparison. What a fraud, use some real pics next time.
