First REAL Shots Of The Next Infiniti QX56? STUD or DUD?

wow! thats A STUD! i wasnt expecting that! it look great!

eehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......I think the name for this should be the DUDley QX56..........i dont know about anyone else but does anyone see a BIG A$$ TOYOTA SCION XB in the design especially the rear the rear looks like they got the design from a uhaul square box and rounded off the edges. I can deal with the front fascia that looks great but for the rest of the lunch box design can go up in smoke.............I wonder what the new ARMADA is going to look like oh wait Im looking at it with an infiniti badge my fault .....

actually, you're not. That's the next Nissan patrol you're looking at, which is not available in the NA market. The new QX is not based on the Armada.

Stud! If that is the next QX, then it is a fast improvement over that 'hunched' previous generation. I can't wait to see the cabin design.

Agreed. This is a stud. The folks over at autoblog seem to differ, but I think it looks handsome.

It's a stud until you guys see the new Nissan Patrol... they're virtually identical - the chrome running from the windows on one side, across the front windshield, and to the other side, and the fender vents. At least we don't have the Patrol here in the US! lol

I really like how the wheels look snug in their positions; however, I'm not a big fan of that cladding around the wheel arch.

the windows and fenders are similar, but the front and rear are a lot nicer. It's a gorgeous Nissan Patrol. I feel the same about he cladding over the arches, but these are nicely done.

Why would the presence of the Patrol make this any less of a stud? The next-generation QX won't have a Nissan counterpart sold in the US.

I think you mean Nissan Armada and not Nissan Patrol. QX56 is just luxury version of Nissan Armada.

btw that's not looking good to me. Loved the all new M's design but not sure about this.

they are identical, except the front, I dont see the point it looks like a downsized LX with a new front end especially the rear.

From these two shots, it's a definite STUD! Can't wait to see more pics and get more details!

I can't make judgment from these shots; but if this is the new QX I am only glad that it will not look like an Armada with leather. Can't wait to see more shots.

As the owner of a 2006 Armada, I was hoping for a nice restyle for the QX so I can upgrade the family hauler in another year or two. Way to go Infiniti!

Ever since it had been known that the next QX would be unibody built in Japan (3 years at least), I knew it would be built on a shared body like the Patrol. However, I was hoping that they would make bigger changes to the Patrol as well to make it like a M-B GL instead of the LandCruiser/LX-like Patrol as it has been. Given the Patrol's history, I figured this would be unlikely, and it looks to be the case from the preliminary fuzzy pics.

As for competitor to the Escalade any more, we'll see. Aside from looks, the QX was better than the Escalade. Now the Escalade will be tops of the Body on Frame big SUVs. My guess is that the GL and Q7 will be tops of the unibody. This QX will flounder somewhere in between where the LX570 is.

Big hope: 3rd row seats better fold into the floor.

Looks like an enlarged Kia Soul. It has a cute styling rather than an aggressive one.

I say stud. But all we have now are these distorted cell phone pics. I think all tis Kia Soul stuff is overstated and that will be more apparent when we get better pictures. IN fact, the general shape of this QX is more like the Nissan Terranaut concept of a few years ago.

This is a BIG rig as most know and the platform is a relic...but if you need to tow and need luxury for your passengers, it's hard to beat. The great Infiniti interiors of circa 2007+ are present in the QX from what I've seen...

Why is this such a gas guzzler? It's still supposed to be the first Infiniti offered in the US w/ the V6 turbodiesel unless something has changed. If you have more than 2 kids or take kids and friends, you need a minivan or something like this. I don't want one, but there are a lot of people with need for this room.

I have 3 children, I used to have 2008 G35 and Armada, I bought G35 to show off, but to small, with 3 kids it was creepy oming out of a small car, then we trade it in got a GL450, its lease, but when time for new Armada, I am looking at MDX (ugly, unless the new one is going to look good, well even their NSX replacement sucks) NO thanks any Government Motor cars, NO Ford/Lincoln, then current QX56 ugly, LX570, almost same catagery as GL450, too expensive and its a Toyota. there is no good japanese leaxury full size SUV out there. ohh the sequioa I want to like it but it....but that thing too ugly too and too expensive, HELL NO TO ALL minivan

the escalade is getting rescaled as well.. so they will still be competitors, and I heard that it might get an even bigger engine liek a 6 liter?? if you google nissan patrol you can see the interior.. which looks pretty nice.. Another improvement with it being built in Japan is that it can share more with the other Infiniti's like the 7sp trans and stuff..

The current one is on the Titan pltfrm ( discontinued one at that) is hideously bad. Infiniti has to give that thing away.

Definitely a stud, I love what Infiniti is doing lately, they're finally fixing their errors. I see Infiniti by passing Lexus very soon, so watch out Lexus. ;-)

For me, it is the elegantly-understated designs that work best on full-size SUVs. The Range Rover, GL and LX are the epitome of that. This is not.

Much, much better the truck it replaces, but still ugly as heck!!!
