"Crafted by the master engineers at Mitsubishi" just doesn't mean what it used to mean.

It's just as well because Mitsu hadn't taken an engine from that location in years and Hyundai never did. As far as I'm aware these engines are pretty well put together and they have value. It will be interesting to see what happens from here because FIAT may very well ditch production entirely. There may very well be something there that FIAT may decide to use though. Using these engines would relieve FIAT of having to meet emissions standards with their own engines. The 2.4 turbo in particular may be of interest. Dropping a turbo on either the 2.0 is very possible as well, as we've seen with the Genesis Coupe and the Lancer Evolution X. And on that note, I still believe there is merit to Mitsubishi's engineering prowess. NOBODY builds a turbo I4 like Mitsubishi. Nobody. 300hp from a stock 2.0 turbo? It takes BMW an extra litre of displacement, an extra turbocharger, and two extra cylinders to get that.

I think Fiat's engine technology(especially Multiair) will be incredibly helpful to Chrysler. I cannot wait to see some of the new products that come out of Fiat/Chrysler.
