Leaked: Audi R8 eTron Concept leaked before Frankfurt debut

Yes, tomorrow is the day when the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show kicks off and some publications just can’t wait to leak some more debuts ahead of their scheduled launch tomorrow. This morning we see the much anticipated electric Audi R8 electric make its way onto the web.

Known as the Audi R8 eTron Concept, the electric Audi supercar is powered by… we have no clue. All the folks at WorldCarFans did was post some photos – no technical details have been leaked as of yet.

However, we do know two things so far. The Audi R8 eTron Concept looks amazingly weird and will compete with the likes of BMW’s Vision EfficientDynamics Concept and Mercedes-Benz’s already confirmed 526-hp SLS AMG eDrive. We’ll have more details for you within the next 24 hours.

Outside, the rear is a peak at the A8 sedan, and interior of the R8 Convertible, nothing else in the looks department stands out. Too bland and "Robotech." I thought I would never say this about Audi.

Try typing "etron" in google images, or read it's definition in a french dictionnary ....

It does require the acute accent (étron) to be understood as "shit", but maybe the brown paint of the R8 Spyder would help.
