Hyundai Extends It's Lead Over Lexus In Overall Brand Value For 2009
The Hyundai brand continues its upward march by ranking 69th, up three notches from 2008, in the 2009 Best Global Brands survey jointly conducted by Interbrand, a leading consultancy in branding, and BusinessWeek, the New York-based global business media organization.

While the average brand value for automotive industries declined by 7.4 percent amid the global economic downturn, Hyundai saw a milder decline of five percent at $4.6 billion, the smallest drop among automobile companies.

"Thanks to eye-catching products like Genesis and innovative marketing such as the Assurance program, Hyundai is making a big splash in the world market," Interbrand said.

Hyundai made its debut on the annual Best Global Brands list in 2005 in 84th place. Since then, Hyundai has registered steady annual growth in its brand value as measured on a global basis. In the latest survey, Hyundai ranked 8th overall among global automakers, surpassing several prominent competitor brands including Porsche, Lexus and Nissan.

The automaker has witnessed a rapid rise on the global stage thanks to continuous quality improvements and design of its vehicles. Management's globalization efforts have greatly contributed to Hyundai's rapid rise by establishing a manufacturing foothold in the key emerging markets of India and China where Hyundai has enjoyed early success.

Even Toyota uses parts made by Hyundai now.

Hyundai will be the biggest automaker in the world.

Lexus is not widely sold in several countries around the world so they shouldn't even be on the list. Lexus is the youngest breed on the list so this study is VOID!

The study is valid, however Lexus limited scope of countries is a factor as well.

People will always get old so one day you will buy one. So Lexus will not die. :)

So Hyundai is ahead of Lexus, that's the title? Not Audi is ahead of Hyundai, Hyundai is ahead of Ferrari or any other combination. Just Hyundai is ahead of Lexus. It was already ahead....so how is this big news? OH it's MORE ahead. Gotcha. Great journalism. Post another article. Ford is gaining on Honda!!! (Ford lost .9 billion and Honda lost 1.3 billion)

This is stupid...by far STUPID. What does this list even mean? Brands are only relative to themselves and their parent company. Toyota is #1 and Hyundai would more so compete with Toyota and not Lexus. BUT, you'll never see them talk as much garbabe about Toyota.

FAKES!

The title by 009 could've easily been "Hyundai Extends It's Lead Over Ferrari and Porsche In Overall Brand Value For 2009" but then again, we're talking about 009, someone who can never get when to use the third-person singular possessive pronoun correctly even once.
