Your Tax Dollars At Work? Fisker Awarded $529 Million Dollar Loan To Produce $88,000 Car
The Energy Department awarded a $529 million low-interest government loan to a start-up luxury automaker to fund the development of an $88,000 plug-in hybrid vehicle.

Energy Secretary Steven Chu today announced the loan to Fisker Automotive for the development of two lines of plug-in hybrids that will save hundreds of millions gallons of gasoline and offset millions of tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2016.

The department said the "project will result in approximately 5,000 jobs created or saved for domestic parts suppliers and thousands more to manufacture a plug-in hybrid in the U.S."

and for what, so a selected few can drive around in a statement that says, look at me, I'm green. Don't think so. At lease the billions are helping, as ill intentioned as the loans were, employing thousands of individuals.

Hmm, so give a way $529 millions, to get a $88k car, and that will save us hundreds of MILLIONS gallons of gas. Well, I'm just curious, how many of these $88k cars will be sold to save us that many gallons of gas?

Now, if the car was priced for the average consumer, say in its $30k then that equation would've made sense, but $88k car?? and this is just the BASE price!!!!

How far low will our politicians go to fool us? How far stupid are we going to be to let all this happen and yet say, what a nice car that is!!

The problem with the average consumer is that he doesn't have money to burn on a car that he perceives to have limitations or to be at risk of obsolescence. Rich people can afford cars with limited utility (cause they can afford many), can painlessly deal with depreciation when newer technology makes their old car undesirable, and they crave the status conferred by new technology. In other words, they are a better target when you want to develop new technology. That’s how Dad did it, that’s how America does it, and… it’s worked out pretty well so far.

I mean, think about the prices of personal computers in their early days ($9,995 for the Apple Lisa). Earlier versions where cheaper, but only because they did so little. Hybrid cars now are little bit like like those earlier PCs--better than a calculator, but not dramatically so. Now is the time to kick development into high gear by targeting people who can afford to be guinea pigs. It will eventually filter down to the masses the way technology always does.

they didn't give away ANY money. they loaned it. to a company helping design hybrid technology.
— 1995e34

So let me think about this, the big three were given the billions, but Fisker was loaded money. Where do you guys get your information, Keith Oberman or what? A car that cost almost $100K is VERY limited in scoop and reach when it comes to the average individual if many haven't noticed lately. Most bitch about the Volt coming in at $35K, but rejoice when Fisker or talks about a limited production sedan coming to market at $37K. WTF?

1995e34- The loans to GM and Chrysler have already gone bad, with no repayment possible.

Now I admit Fisker could be a different case, but half a billion to small company for a car that will not have a wide appeal is the question here.

There needs to be some real trickle down of technology to pay this amount back.

Keith Oberman was kicked off of regular news.
They say that you can know a person by the people they run with and Olbermann's chummy nature and growing contribution list for the ultra radical Daily Kos has made it abundantly clear who he has made his closest bed fellows. Yes, birds of a feather do flock together and Olbermann and the Daily Kos make for some very dirty birds. Last but not least Olbermann suffers from an extreme case of the forked tongue debilitation, that's right, he is just plain and simply a liar. Pulling baseless fabrication after fabrication out of the air.

MSNBC has made their bed with Olbermann and it is a testament to the direction they appear to want to go with their organization, and that's fine, it's a big world and there will always be folks like that out there. Meanwhile, other networks such as FOX will continue to collect the bountiful rewards of MSNBC's tactical decision to encourage by employment the follies of Keith Olbermann.

Claim To Fame: fired sportscaster, now leader of the liberal MSNBC goon squad

Why He’s The Insane Liberal of the Week: honestly, when it comes to Krazy Keith I usually prefer to not waste valuable time plus energy and just move on. After all, the fact that this irrational, hypocritical, in-the-tank, Bill O’Reilly-obsessed, Bush Derangement Suffering fool continues to be taken seriously by the Left is a joke in of itself. Yet, what’s even funnier these days, is that judging from his recent abysmal ratings, even his loon base have gotten tired of Olbermann’s act. Too bad Krazy Keith is just too stupid to see how boring he’s gotten.

Prior to getting work as a pundit for MSNBC, Olbermann was mainly employed as a sportscaster. In 1998, after having a mental breakdown at ESPN, he got a job with Fox Sports as an anchor and did the play-by-play for several world series games. One day in 2001, he decided that he'd rather voice long-winded comments about Guantanamo Bay instead of Mark McGwire's steroids. He was hired by MSNBC, and did bitch-work for 2 years before they realized that Phil Donahue's show sucked ass. The MSNBC Gods promptly fired Donahue's ancient ass and gave the time slot to Olbermann, who started a show called Countdown: Iraq to push MSNBC's anti-war propaganda. After Americunts ended up invading Iraq anyway, they changed the premise to the rage-filled Bush bashing and O'Reilly trolling that we know and love today. Olbermann routinely displays his metaphysical math skills, as he is dedicated to demonstrating how having one-half of O'Reilly's ratings actually means his show is more valuable to advertisers, citing something about ages 25-54 being "more important".

Olbermann was 100% correct. GOP and GWB were a DISASTER.

He has the highest ratings among young people (the future of this country). Old angry crazy conservatives who do nothing else but watch faux news all day long give Orally and crew great ratings. But they have no future. Most of Orally's 65+ year old audience will be 6 feet under by the time the 2016 elections come around

Olbermann attracts the future. Like it or not. Conservatives are mostly older people, born before the 1960's. And they watch TV all day long, while we young people don't watch news that much.

But we will win. Out with the old in with the new. Change happens generationally. The old people with their old beliefs die, and new generations with new ideas take over. That is how it has always happened.

If you think that the 35 under crowd that watches MSNBC will switch over to Faux News braindead propaganda once they "mature", I have a bridge to sell you.

yeah, because redistributing the wealth is such an awful idea!!

countries that have the highest concentration of wealth among the fewest people in the world are such awesome economic and democracy beacons as South Africa, Zimbabwe, Russia, Egypt.

Commie countries that redistribute the wealth, where the least amount of wealth is concentrated among the fewest number of rich people, are such armpits of humanity (that also happen to have the highest quality of life and happiest populations in the world) as Norway, Denmark, Japan, Austria, Germany.

In fact, to show that you are a true Godly Reblooded American patriot, and not a commie traitor secret muslim terrorist who wants to kill Grandma, You should sign this pledge and send it to your local Godly GOP representative:

i'm sure republicans are furious. after all, if it's not tax cuts for billionaires or an increase to the $700 billion yearly defense budget, it's an awful idea
— DinamoR

You can't ever compare the damage done by the Dems when they took over and allowed Fannie Mae Freddy Mac to take in Billions of dollars in bad loans so we won''t discriminate against those that don't have.

http://www.zimbio.com
There won't be investigations because these cronies won't allow it. But in time it will happen.
In 2002, shortly before accounting irregularities were exposed at both companies, Frank said, “I do not regard Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as problems,” The Wall Street Journal reported. After the Freddie Mac accounting scandal in 2003, Frank said, “I do not think we are facing any kind of a crisis.”

But there was a crisis, thanks in large part to Frank, Sen. Charles Schumer and others on the leash of these companies. In Congress, they made sure there was no additional oversight, no additional limit on executive behavior and compensation, and no further restraint on the growth of the companies’ mortgage-backed-securities portfolios, among other changes.

In fact, Frank & Co. made matters worse by pushing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to take on greater risk. They wanted more loans to people who might not qualify for traditional bank financing. And, as The Wall Street Journal has pointed out, Frank “pressured regulators to ease up on their capital requirements — which now means taxpayers will have to make up that capital shortfall.”

Another liberal policy and another liberal failure. And now we must all pay for it. But hell, they meant well.

No its payback to the cronies that got this guy elected. What has the stimulus package done? It is soooo effective, that is why the American people are saying " hey give us another guys". And when another 9/11 situation happens (as a matter of fact, this weekend was a good example of a terrorist focusing on area in New York) then what, "sing come by yah" and pray to your Dali Lama?

Any society will take care of its own, that isn't a something socialist came up with. That is taking care of your own. America didn't began with socialist principals, what makes you think it will work for us now? Little dinkie countries held up as examples of socialism by liberals are like germs in a lab, tiny and remote. Hey, how about going there and becoming citizens? Oh, what, you can't because they won't make you a citizen. That is what I love about this country, it will take the stupid with the strong.

What you guys are failing to see is, just because we has an administration (George Bush) that placed this country in a horrible situation and despite how we went into war, at least some good has came out of it DESPITE what we did and many can agree, we should have done things way the hell differently. We as a country should have never allowed the Bush Administration to get us into debt by not vetoing bills that came across his desk and now we have to pay for all that s&$t and our children. But now to say we stand by and say nothing to a President that is doing some of the same stupid things Bush did is blind and ignorant. We can't keep allowing debt upon debt to pile up and not say something. Forget Dems and Reps and just look at what has happened and what will happen. Look at things through a filter of ideas from beginning to end and you will see how bad ideas BOTH administration have. Just because the government gave use choices of two individuals doesn't mean they were the best at all. As a matter of fact, they should not even have been up to choose. Sometimes its best not to have even voted in Obama and even Mc Cain because their plans are just gasoline on a burning building. What to do, I can't tell you but this course we are on is no better than George thats for sure. I admit I voted for George and that was the worst thing to have happened but that doesn't say that Obama was better. Its like choosing which way you want to injure yourself by cutting off your hand, with a hatchet or a handsaw.

yeah yeah blah blah fannie mae blah blah freddie mac blah blah

When FDR implemented strong government regulations, our economy was fine for ~70 after the great depression. Some ups and downs here and there, but no major meltdowns.

Then in 1999, republicans like Phil Gramm (economic advisor for John McBush) destroyed the Glass-Steagall act put in place in 1933 to avoid another Great Depression.

So what do we have 10 years after repubs and their RETARDED small government elimite-all-regulation idiocy destroyed the Glass-Steagall act?

Another depression. Pretty much.

Nice going morons. But blame it all on Fannie Mae you empty headed losers.

Again, typical response from a liberal. Will call names, and if possible toss their own feces at you rather than have a discussion of marginal substance. Watch a liberal, it will always come to name calling and disrespect to marginalize you as a person reduce you and then try to solidify their point of view. You thrive on crises. Look how DinamoR responds the same.

Progressive Fascist

Fascism is a mood in politics, not a specific set of policies. And the further left the progressives are, the more likely they are today to exhibit the fascist mood.

Notice the unhinged anger, the sense of grievance, the eagerness for conspiracy theories on the far left today. That is not because they are left-wing but because they are fascist. Right-wing fascists behave similarly – but in North America today, right-wing fascists are simply not as numerous or powerful.

Doesn't this sound like DinamoR!

What amazes me, is most will never, ever read House Bill 3200. The Dems just voted for no disclosure before voting for it, and we are to pay for it. Can you accept this? It was also voted yesterday that we will not be able to know the cost before the vote. That is bold.

Referring to the death panels, what are they? Do they exist? What was meant by it

During a weekend interview, a Obama official top Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said she wants the controversial end-of-life counseling proposal to remain in the final version of the health care bill Obama may receive (This is what is considered Death Panels). The counseling, which skeptics say a mounts to "death panels" could promote assisted suicide and health are rationing.

The sections are found in the House version of the health care bills and they call for giving doctors financial incentives to discuss end-of-life issues.

Critics complain that doctors should not be paid to have the discussions and worry that they will promote assisted suicide in states where the practice is legal and promote rationing such as the denial of lifesaving medical treatment or food and water.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Sunday on ABC’s "This Week" that, "I'm hoping that at the end of the day it will be part of the overall the package."

Sebelius explained the reasons for including the language, which was written in the House by a pro-euthanasia group.
On the organization's web site, a spokesman confirms Compassion's involvement, writing, "Compassion & Choices has worked tirelessly with supportive members of Congress to include in proposed reform legislation a provision requiring Medicare to cover patient consultation with their doctors about end-of-life choice (section 1233 of House Bill 3200)."

On Medical for Illegals

There could be instances where some family members would meet the definition of an eligible individual for purposes of the credit, while other family members would not... H.R. 3200 does not expressly address how such a situation would be treated. Therefore, it appears that the Health Choices Commissioner would be responsible for determining how the credits would be administered in the case of mixed-status families.

"So if he gets his way, prohibitions against giving healthcare to illegal aliens will be meaningless because they won't be illegal aliens anymore (having an "anchor baby" born here will open up the proposition). Illegal immigration already costs billions to our system. The Federation for American Immigration Reform recently released a report that the cost of reimbursing hospitals for care of illegal aliens alone costs 10.5 billion dollars a year.
Another study by the Center for Immigration Studies estimated the cost of including illegals in Obamacare at 30.5 billion dollars.
