 BMW expects production increases
In an interview Automobilwoche, BMW AG said it wants second half 2009 production levels to match levels of the second half of 2008, despite the dramatic sales declines experienced in the first half of this year.

According to Frank-Peter Arndt, BMW production boss, at least 620,612 vehicles would be produced.

Back in the summer, BMW started the shorter workers’ hours programs which have ended as of September. At the same time, most likely due to the upcoming new models, BMW has hired between 200 and 300 part-time workers at both its Leipzig and Munich works.Herr Arndt also said at its Spartanburg, South Carolina production facility BMW would add shifts.

One again, it has been confirmed that the Chinese automobile market still shows a strong demand for BMW vehicles. He also told the magazine demand for the company’s X5 and X6 SUV models was higher than the company’s output at the moment.

and the same ol' arguments get reused over and over.

i guess since lexus sales are way waaaaay down during clunkers, it must mean that prospective lexus buyers don't even have money to buy/lease a real lexus, let alone cheap lexus-badged toyotas. heh.

akio should really just give up on lexus or his ceo position altogether, especially continuing to pour money into the big joke of a project called LF-A. i guess toyota's $4 billion dollar loss isn't enough to push lexus down toilet just yet.
