2008 World Car of the Year Coming to U.S.: Mazda2 Arrives in 2010
Looking for something cheap, fun and spunky?  Mazda may have the answer to your petit lust.  Finally, the zoom-zoom brand has responded to their dealer's desires and will be bringing the Mazda2 to American soil.

Late last week in a meeting with the company's top dealers, Jim O'Sullivan, Mazda's CEO, announced that after much waiting, the 2 will be making an appearance in U.S. showrooms in late 2010.

Good move on Mazda's part. The 2 will compete well with Fit, Fiesta, Yaris, and, Versa but, will likely be much more fun than the latter 2 cars mentioned.

Excellent move. I didn't think for would bring over the Fiesta, but even better the Mazda 2 will be here! What a huge market we will have with B segment cars in the near future and GREAT options.

Car of the year? Where? And who said it?

Car of the year means nothing imo. MotorTrend gave the Ford Thunderbird the car of the year once. LOL!!

They will pretty much dominate the market. Maybe not at first, but you get a small car compared to the above mentioned Yaris, Versa, Fit. But it is MUCH more fun and MUCH more appealing to the eye instead of tipsy boring paneled auto. You get a nice appearance with the wheels, the lines, the lower profile tires. Not to mention if they made a Mazdaspeed2 with a turbo that would be kinda fun.

I hope mazda does not widen the car to compensate for the fat people

i think it will do well because of a more sporty presence of the vehicle. it is making the small hatches sporty, not geeky.
