Although it was intended as being humorous, there is much truth in it.

With an I.Q such as yours, I assume you will be able to digest the following words, all of which sum up the LF-A.

-Overdone
-Tacky
-disjointed
-strangely 'boat-like'

lexus is incapable of designing a beautiful car, so instead of admitting defeat, and purchasing a poster of an Aston martin DB9, they go all wacky.

Let me put it like this.

A European design is like a fit runner.

Let's say the finish line represents a great design.

He runs, never clenching his chest or gasping for breath. He is calm and collected, focused on winning. With minimal fuss, he annihilates the field.

A Japanese design is like an unfit runner.

He very rarely makes it to the finish line, but when he does, he does it by waving his arms in the air, wheezing and coughing, sweat pouring off his body. Oh sure, he completes the race, but the effort involved is excruciating. Maximum fuss.

I saw this car last year in Chicago. It looks pretty good for a Lexus, but the rear end is, well...butt-ugly. From the side it looks like an old Le Mans racer turned into a Hot Wheels car. It just doesn't do it for me. Now, the concept that is likely to become the next NSX is one of the baddest looking cars I've ever seen. Combine that with the V-10 and Acura may finally have a winner.

No-one has mentioned anything about "completely dominating anything".
But, Mr.Boltski, assuming you do have an open mind, wouldn't you agree that many never expected Toyota would even build a car with morethan 4 cylinders back in the 80's? No-one could have ever imagined Toyota would be the Largest auto-giant in the world or richest for that matter bringing in on or about $10 billion USD per year!
I would also like to mention Mr. Boltski that Lexus IS-460 will eat M-series for lunch.
I respect your opinions but I just feel that you are not thinking with open mindedness enough to see the "possbilities". I expect within next 5 years, Lexus WILL be building a supercars to compete and outgunning majority of them with an ease.

Lexus Unveils 500-Plus Horsepower, 200 MPH Sports Car Concept

Detroit January 10, 2005 Lexus unveiled the LF-A sports car concept at the 2005 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) today. The two-seat concept blends the performance of an exotic sports car with the luxury refinements of a Lexus. Designed to express a bold new direction in styling for the Lexus brand, the LF-A concept is a vision closely aligned with the company's Formula One commitment to achieving superiority among its rivals in speed, quickness, agility and reliability.

"The Lexus LF-A is like no sports car we have ever built or even imagined," said Jim Press, Toyota Motor Sales executive vice president and COO. "Currently only a concept, it is a realistic vision of how we might address the boundaries that define the exotic sports car landscape."

The Lexus LF-A concept features an engine capable of developing more than 500 horsepower from a displacement of less than five litres. With a combination of optimum gearing, weight and aerodynamics, the LF-A concept would produce a top speed in the neighbourhood of 200 miles per hour.

"The LF-A is theoretically developed to run a parallel course to our company's efforts in Formula One racing," added Press. "It would probably feature a powertrain and drivetrain configuration strongly influenced by whatever is being used in competition at the time."

Inside, the LF-A is designed as a luxury high-speed capsule that blends extravagant comfort with precision operation. Although it is about five inches shorter in length than the Porsche 911 Turbo, its wheelbase is nine inches longer. At 48 inches, it is nearly identical in height to the Ferrari F430. And with a width of 73.2 inches, it splits the difference between the Mercedes Benz SL55 and the Aston Martin DB9.

While the LF-A makes a major statement in how Lexus would define exotic sports car performance, it was conceived to express the emergence of a new direction in styling for the Lexus brand, globally.

"Over the last two years, a new styling philosophy that we call L-Finesse, has taken shape at Lexus Design," said Wahei Hirai, Toyota Motor Corporation's global managing officer of design. "What has emerged from this two-year journey is not just a new direction in philosophy. It is a new design language, based on the dynamism and inherent contrast between simplicity and elegance."

Simplicity, in form and function, reflects styling that is uncluttered and void of extraneous elements. Thanks for your honest opinions, Mr. Boltski. Hopefully, you'll enjoy your new 335. BTW, I rented a Landcruisers to take a spin around the deserts of the United Arab Emeriates during one of my trip to the middle east and had a great time and loved everything about Landcruisers.

People said there wasnt a market for toyota's luxury cars.

People said there wasnt a market for a dodge supercar (viper).

While I have no intrest in a supercar whatsoever, lexus to this point really hasnt created an unprofitable car. I do not think they are going to start now.

When my wife went to buy a small sports-luxury car, we tested everything including the Jag. We decided to buy a 2003 IS300. While I will be the first to admidt that this car is not intended for every demographic. A comparably equipped bmw 330i was 11K more than what we paid for a fully loaded (5-speed) IS300. I drove both cars on multiple exhaustive test drive, and I personally could not justify the 11k for the BMW (I was willing to spend it because I really liked the 2003 330i body styling). I really honestly couldnt say that the BMW drove better, and the interior didn't have as nice of a fit and finish, or attention to detail that that IS300 did.

I am glad that I bought her the IS300, she has only had to have one item fixed under warranty. This item was the chrome ball on the top of the shifter came unglued, and they replaced it at her next service.

We were discussing upgrading to an IS350, and she will not have it. She loves her car and won't give it up for the world.

Time and time again, it's strengths are making a reliable car with well accepted general design that people can afford.

Not exactly "what people can afford". In terms of a Lexus its really "what people are willing to spend" I personally think that Lexus is designing the best cars to meet people's price points.

I am not affluent so to speak, but I have many friends and clients who are. One in particular owns a LX470, SC430, and a LS430. He also own a Vanquish. If he wanted to, he could afford trade all of those in for a g55, sl55 and s55, but he feels that Lexus offers him the most car for the money that he spends, and he also doesnt have time to deal with taking his cars to a dealer all the time for repairs.

Why is it that when someone critiques a Lexus Design some people here go crazy and start calling People names? The Lexus fans here come across as a bunch of insecure whiny babies that cannot accept the fact the Lexus cars aren’t appealing to a large amount of people. Get over it, you can’t change peoples opinions are just because you are in love with Lexus doesn’t make Lexus the best or even the most appealing cars to everyone. Lexus, like every other auto manufacturer has its weaknesses as well as its strengths.

The Lexus strengths are:
1) reliability
2) Dealer experience
3) Decent interior

Weaknesses:

1) Soft suspension, Body roll
2) Generic designs that doesn’t stand the test of time
3) Interior pieces raided from Toyota’s parts bin
4) Resale value (not as good as BMW)

I see Lexus for what they really are, and that would be really nice Toyotas. I’ll stick with the Europeans thank-you.
