Alfa Romeo 166 to be manufactured in the United States
As a direct result of Fiat’s control of the Chrysler Group, the two companies are integrating several of their processes and so now we come to hear about their concrete plans. Alfa Romeo is said to make a rear-wheel drive replacement for its defunct 166 executive saloon exclusively in North America, where most will be sold.

It is speculated that the plant will be Chrysler’s Canadian Brampton 300C site, which will also supply Europe with the car. The new big Alfa, originally codenamed project 169, will share a brand new, Chrysler-developed platform planned for the next-generation 300C and Dodge Charger saloons. The Alfa version however, will feature bespoke suspension and powertrains. Fiat and Chrysler are merging their product development, manufacturing, purchasing and distribution processes.

From what Fiat has done with its product line over the past decade, I'm very excited about this merger. In about a decade, I see a very new Chrysler with strong Euro feel and Fiat will have endless channels to bring product here, just as they've wanted for a good while. What a contrast to the morass of decisions Mecedes made during Chryslers merger and rape of the company.

I love Alfa Romeos! I love the 159/Brera/Spider! As long as it's not too hard to maintain, I'd love to take care of one every single day! (Tired of all those sensitive computer gizmos that are there to take over rather than to just assist).

I can't wait till all the girls go, "Wowww... What is that pretty thang'? Please start talking to me about cars again, pleeeaaaassse!"

If you liked Alfa's typically crappy unreliability, you'll LOVE the new ones built by Chrysler's crack team of UAW drones. Just imagine the typical plasticky cheapness of the Dodge Caliber, combined with the amazing electrical fires of the old 164. It's a class action lawyer's wet dream!!!
