Winless Toyota might decide to pull out of Formula One.
Toyota's team boss has indicated the Japanese manufacturer might decide to pull out of Formula One.

Amid rumours about the Toyota Motor Corporation's wavering commitment to the sport because of its serious financial losses, Tadashi Yamashina said the cost of competing in F1 is an issue.

"We need to turn it into an F1 where you don't need so much money," he said at a news conference in Tokyo, according to the Yomiuri newspaper.

Toyota's team president John Howett has been at the forefront of the Formula One Teams' Association efforts to cut costs, but the Briton was also one of the leading protagonists of the argument against FIA President Max Mosley's budget cap.

"We'll have to consider various issues while bearing in mind our ties with the main company," Yamashina continued. "We will participate for now - we have to consider a variety of things in relation to our core business. Our participation is unclear, depending on our financial results.

"

Cologne-based Toyota has signed the new Concorde Agreement, which binds teams to F1 until the end of 2012, but the team's 2010 budget has not yet been approved by the carmaker's executive committee. It is said that this can be done at a November 15 meeting at the earliest, after the current Formula One season has concluded.

After 14 out 17 races, Toyota reached the podium on three occasions, including Timo Glock's second-place finish in Singapore last weekend. The team's objective this season is to record its maiden F1 victory.

Jarno Trulli's contract negotiations have apparently stalled due to the pending budget questions, and Glock was recently told he is free to look for opportunities elsewhere.

Snore...Who cares? They suck at life in F1 motor sports. They need the money to make cooler Lexus cars that are hybrids and don't break ever.

Well they could use the extra funds to beef up their litigation war chest. They may need it with recent news.

And all because some one didn't know how to install a floor mat!!!

They have the money to do it all. Just if they want to spend it. And the answer to that is NO!

I hope they stay as the light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer!!!

light at the end of the tunnel? Isn't toyota already out in the clear? They just keep stumbling and falling face first in the mud. Which is why they released that they are no longer aiming for top sales.

"After 14 out 17 races, Toyota reached the podium on three occasion"

Wrong. Toyota got 4 Podiums. 2 for Trulli in Australia and Bahrain. 2 For Timo in Malaysia and Singapore. Also Toyota locked out the front row in Bahrain with a 1-2 in Qualifying. They had great chance of Winning at Bahrain but messed up the strategy and again had a big chance at Belgium where Trulli qualified Second and had more fuel than anyone around him.

I would say this was/is a good year for Toyota, they have lot of potential. It's just that Brawn and then Red Bull was like a second faster than anyone else in the first 10 races. Plus Later KERS cars, with their quick starts, made life tough for many, even Brawn and Red Bull struggled and are struggling against them.

Anyway, I am hoping for Toyota victory at Japan this Sunday. Toyota should not quit. I hope they don't regret it later like Honda (Look at Brawn Now).

They had a great chance at Bahrain, true, but they screwed it and Jarno was pissed. Overall, this year again, Toyota shown some potential, but this year again, they failed to succeed.

Toyota lead only 13 laps so far this year, so much for a supposed "successful year"...
