AUTO SPIES EXCLUSIVE: Hot new feature coming to the next BMW 3-series convertible?

A cool new feature on the new VW EOS convertible is something that does not exist on any other retractable convertible...YET.

The roof can be panoramic coupe roof, open just the sunroof portion OR retract fully and become a convertible.

Sources tell the Spies that this will be also a feature on the upcoming next generation BMW 3-series retractable convertible.

Man, just give credit where it's due! VW will be 1st with this cool feature so the headline should reflect it, not how others will copy it. Everybody copies everytbody, so give the 1st to market models the 15 minutes of fame.

It was Mercedes Benz SLK(?) who had this feature first. Not sure if SLK is right...that's why, I put ? mark beside of it.
But, I'm quite sure it was Mercedes Benz first with this feature.

I think Ford was first with this feature honestly. Don't you remember the Skyliner from I think 1958? Does anyone know of a retractable hardtop earlier than that?
