Porsche planning to build smaller and cheaper cars
Speaking with Mr. Wolfgang Durheimer, the man responsible with the Porsche Research & Development we found out that the German manufacturer is currently focusing on producing smaller and cheaper cars.

These new cars will include a much cheaper model than the Boxster (which the cheapest Porsche in the present) but also a compact SUV, smaller than the Cayenne which could be a rival to the upcoming Bmw X3 but also for the Audi Q5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLK. It appears that this plan continues the sayings of CEO Michael Macht who said that Porsche is planning to sell over 150,000 cars a year.

Why? R U implying owning a BMW sounds hollow NOW? A Porsche is a Porsche, especially when it's an MR! There's even rumor that BMW will come up with a FWD Mini-fighter. What can you say?

The bastardization of Porsche has begun. I wonder if we'll get a Porsche Hare to go along with the VW Rabbit?

Even though Porsche has plans to enter into below entry level Porsche cars I don't feel their quality will be hurt. What I fear is their brand image. They are suppose to be a competitor with Ferrari and Lamborghini. You always hear those 3 mentioned when it comes to sports cars. Now with possible introductions of smaller, less expensive Porsches, the prestige of this brand could take a huge hit. I'd still buy a Porsche don't get me wrong but I'll go in buying it knowing it's not as exclusive as it once was and that any call center worker can work to pay off an entry level Porsche, not too special is it?.

There is little prestige left after they made an suv and a sedan/hatchback.
